First off I want to say this game looks pretty darn great from playing the demo. I been spending all my time crashing into the planet where the trader starts and that has been just enough fun for me so far haha.

This game has a really big Freelancer feel to me with a lot more depth and including a lot of future depth.

I see the game recently went on steam and I really hope this will help attract more people to the game and help future proof its development because you guys clearly deserve it.

On top of playing the demo I installed a really sweet hud called SilicuMAX. Worth checking out if you have not seen it:

(Check the later posts for tweaks and changes)

So my name is Kane Hart. I enjoy sandbox gaming and been running Minecraft servers for over 4 years and I'm also the site Administrator of Terraria Online. I been really getting more into Space Games ever since they had pretty much died for me back in the Freelancer days. The latest games I been playing a lot is the X3 Series.

It seems that Evochron Mercenary is a great fit for me and my community. I feel like I can get quite a few them into the game and I'm planning on running a Dedicated server.

I'm planning to do a Youtube Series on the game. I have quite a lot of Space Engineers followers that would love to find more space Multiplayer type games.

So here comes the random questions that I surly can find on google and stickies and ohh my I'm a bad one.

[*]Does Multiplayer have everything that Single Player offers? From when I heard about fleets and such it sounded like MP Would not have these. That sort of sucks because I'm sure its not as fun playing Smaller sized servers for people who enjoy the small community. But maybe I'm wrong I got no clue about the game!
[*]The game has an economy. Is this economy run via AI and is it a true simulation or just faked with a number system in the background? So if I blow up a AI Huller does the destination he was going if he really was going somewhere lose out on that cargo and need to request more?
[*]If I blow up an AI Station if that is even possible, will they try to build it again? Is there any kind of God Engine in the background trying keep say a balance maybe 200 stations in space at all times?
[*]How is the Economy then for a trader perspective. What would you tell someone who is brand new what a brand new player would do for trade runs? Do you go from point A to point B and Loop? Do you go to Point A then Point B then Buy something at Point B or close to point B and bring back to A or Close to A? Or is there a actual real supply and demand and they get full?
[*]Players can build stations. What happens when their built? What do they offer? What can they do? What is their impact to the universe or area? Can AI or other players take them out? I want to know it all! Upkeep?
[*]I hear there is small player structures that can be placed like a fuelling ahh not sure the name but tiny structures that offer benefits. Do they have a Upkeep? Do they Rot? Can they stay there forever?
[*]Is there any kind of planet structure building by the players. From what I understand you can mine and visit cities to trade? What about dynamic building or destruction or anything like that?
[*]So I heard the terms deep space. It sounds like you can travel out far or maybe unlimited? Is there a limit to the outside of the planets / systems? Is there life out there or anything hidden or dynamically generated? Can you build a station far far out away from everyone and anyone?
[*]Depending what you guys answered for fleets if there is AI ones in MP and I assume it's in SP. What can you do with them? Can you tell them to patrol a system? Protect and guard a Station you own? Send them out for any kind of automation or AI or even trading automatic?
[*]In the Demo I keep trying to land. Clearly I'm assuming I need to adjust the shields maybe even buy better or special hull / shields. Just tell me what I'm doing wrong :)

I honestly have 1000's of questions and could go forever. But I guess this should help me get started.

Any guides or suggestions or even Youtubes I should check out I want to hear them. I want to learn as much as I can about this game. Even more so since my Demo is running out!

Last question. Does sw3dgames answer their emails? I know its an odd question but you be amazed how many companies do not answer their emails.

Thanks again for your time and I want to know everything! I love reading :)

Hi and welcome.

1: Your profile carry over between SP <-> MP. In SP you can hire AI as a fleet, not in MP but lots of AI ships in MP.
2: Economy isn't my cup of tea but destroyed ships drop cargo that you can take.
3: Can only destroy player build stations. Players can build up to 50 stations in total / system.
4: Buy cheap and sell expensive. (Check the economy map) There are ways to gain cash Quick but that might
spoil it for you.
5: Yes. They offer a discount when buying stuff. (Also for Selling at that station - hint;)) Different stations can be
build and they affect economy and Tech level for that system.
6: Several deployable objects are avaiable. They self destroy when all players have left the sector it's in.
7: No, only Terrain Walkers to walk/fight with and do planetary contracts.
8: No limit found that I know about. A clan mate Went 300000 sectors straight out from the center.
You can build stations very far out, but not at 300000 sectors lol). Life is everywhere. Humans, aliens.
9: Your fleet can be commanded. You can also use AI ships for mining etc. Can't command them to protect your property.
10: Try to land below 1500 in speed. Or use the space shuttle techique for high speed planetfalls.

You have a lot of info/guides on my website: evochron2.junholt.se (Spoiler warning)

Awesome! MORE NEW PEOPLE TO PUMP THIS GAME UP!!!

I've been playing only this for about a month now and it's great!

If you guys are doing multiplayer you should use the Olympus Prime Server as it seems active more then the others, but they aren;t too bad if you get on at the right time...

My time zone is East Coast USA... so the time is 16:30 as I post this.

Hope to see you guys out there!

I was a big EVo Legends player back in the day, even pre-ordered EM, but never got around to playing it until now. Nice to see all the improvements from EL and now with my Voiceattack profile and Ivona voice, my ship feels alive and I'm relearning the EVo world all over again. It really has been a game ahead of its time and still is the standard IMO, even with all the new games coming down the pipe.

Thanks SeeJay for your help. I think I might of come across your name here and there googling random info about the game :)

I just finished all the Tutorials so I think I'm ready to start fresh single player game to start with for the Let's Play Series then later on upgrade to Multiplayer.

Does anyone know exactly how many planets their are in total? I loved how their procedurally generated and so many other games like it coming. It's space time to shine :)

When starting out in the game there is a lot of options. It seems though trading might not be the very best thing to do right from out the door though I could be wrong. If I want to be a little of everything then what would be the suggested starting point? I assume a lot of people would rather watch someone do a bit of everything then focus on just trading.

Also when starting to accept missions or I guess their called contracts? Will I expect most them to be really impossible and a few I can do or do they scale better? I know some games you start out and the missions are just silly insane :)

Thanks again everyone!

The type of contract and the difficulty of each depends on the star system. Systems rated Good offer only non-combat contracts. Fair systems offer both non-combat and relatively easy combat contracts. Moderate systems off the same, except the combat is a bit more difficult. Hostile systems only offer ... well, they offer a lot of grief.

You're welcome.

I would start as a Mercenary doing contracts and
mining in Sapphire. Very friendly system.

Once you have upgraded or even got a better ship
fully equipped and a crew trained, I'll
go to Olympus.

Once you have some cash, trading is the way for me.

Hope to see you and your mates in MP.
Don't hesitate to go to MP early. Everyone is
very helpful and doing contracts together is
much more fun and all players get paid doing the
contracts in the same sector.

 Whenever I need to develop a new profile, I use what credits I have to upgrade my jump drive to at least a class 2 while still in Sapphire. Then I make my way to Atlas (one of the few absolutely safe star systems), where I mine, increasing the ship's cargo capacity as I go along. I again upgrade the jump drive and then head for Cerulean to buy as many high-priced items as I can afford ... then head back to Atlas to sell them.
