So I finished the IMG quest line. I see now it is fairly short and mainly serves as a training aide to help you learn the game and see a few area, but is not meant to be all-encompassing. I jumped back and forth a few systems, turned the money I had into even more money and bough the best hull I could find for my ship (Starmaster?) and all the other stuff.
I know the answer is "go explore" but I'm more of a "guided tour" kinda player.
I have read on here that I can add-on files to add more quest missions, what do you recommend for that? I see there is one called "quest for peace" on an old thread, is it still workable with the latest game update?
Another thing I would like to do is build my military rank so I can buy the military ship hulls (did I understand that correctly?) but my question is :
I've spent so much time in Pearl system that my rep with Navy faction is down to 24%. That's weird in don't remember the Navy faction attacking me when I first started the game, is it just the Pearl system or does the IMG quest line cause me to do stuff that makes the Navy faction want to kill me?
If I go to a Warzone to do military missions is that the "Navy" faction? Are they all going to try to shoot me, even though I'm working on a contract for them???

HI there !
As Onirim said Try Over the hill quest. It's a very good work and nice following story.
Doing Military contract can be fun if you like more difficulty. You will unlocke military ship more you doing mission in war zone.
Wz and normal system are independant. So no worries if you are not friendly with the navy at pearl you will be friendly with the navy in WZ.
I couldn't answer your question about the navy attack you in pearl because for me they always attacked me wich is not a problem actually

Pearl is a hostile system. If you check the quadrant maps, one of them will display standard system reputation. Else, check the right-hand side of the navigation map for your current rep.

Quest for Peace works as well and is a really great

Some aspects of the Q4P are included (in an expanded way) in OtH so perhaps doing them in that order would be good. Marvin's Hitchhiker's Guide Quest (also from SeeJay's site) is well worth doing.
For those odd moments when you fancy just messing about you could try . . .

)
1. learn to survive combat - the new AI are really mean
2. hone your combat skills in the expansion, then do the hard combat contracts solo - many bragging rights!
3. race against another player or group of players - race tubes available
4. go to Sol system, also Riftspace and Vonari space and the Andromeda Galaxy!
5. go to Sol system and land on earth (in one piece!)
6. Learn to use the Weapon Lab and then write a tutorial to help the rest of us
7. you can start changing your reputation in the systems by doing quests for navy/energy, to change them to "Good", so there won't be any more hostiles in there
8. get maximum rank both for civilian and for military
9. get into orbit around a star
10. you can change the economy of systems by building stations (of all types) in those systems (trade stations, research stations, ore stations, energy stations, etc.) See what kind of impact that has. Raise economies! Create good trading systems for relatively new pilots
11. join or create a clan
12. become a baddy and join Clan Vonari
13. Fly around and help pilots (SAR missions and general help and assistance)
14. Explore. Either looking for new systems on your own (especially by using a deploy constructor which you can use both for refuelling, and the sensor array which helps you scan the present sector for other AI and human ships)
15. declare war on a clan - SG will defend it's territory to the death (probably yours) - other clans will give you a good run for your money
16. Find all the places that sell a Stealth Generator - the reusable sort and other bits of hard to find equipment and U2U the locations to me please (for this hints guide)
17. There are hundreds of uncharted systems, several asteroid caves to explore with a variety of goodies inside
18. try flying straight through a trade station @ >4000
19. Visit the server (9999,9999,9999)
20. Or, just load up the coordinates from the many hidden systems already found by other players and go there, see what's there.
21. run your own MP server - create a Universe that's a bit different
22. try doing contracts in different ways (try a scanning contract without firing a shot)
23. engage in planetside combat and/or recovery contracts - in a terrain walker
24. organise community activities like a "last man standing" competition
25. Do the quests (Quest for Peace or Over the Hill or The Hitchhiker's Guide) - write a story about it - the community loves FanFic
26. create a quest yourself - there are people who will help you code it when you've got the story line sorted. There are people who will write a stroy background for you as well (as in OtH and THHG)
27. find an uncharted system with a planet or two and upgrade the technical level in one part of it. You have just created a trading system where decent profits can be made in a quiet environment for newer players (or for you!) Post its location in the forum as a treasure hunt or with cryptic clues
28. check out some of the "facts" bandied about on the forum; how long can a C1 particle cannon fire for non-stop. Does it depend on the frame? How does it compare to a C10 etc Does a beam weapon really hammer shields? where's the sweet spot for taking a capital ship down?
29. If you have the flair, turn some of your adventures into stories for others to enjoy
30. Create the ultimate cannon and/or missile in the Weapon Lab - sell it or the blueprint for fame and fortune! I've got one with an excellent yield and it never depletes energy!
Evochron a freeform space-sim, a sandbox, so you can do whatever you want.

And believe it or not, there is also a sizeable number of players who want (and have even demanded from me, lol) that they be given the option to have 'no hardship'. They literally want to fly around in peaceful space as much as possible just to calmly mine asteroids, explore caves, traverse planets, deliver items, transport people, find lost items, design ships, race, and/or recover/sell fuel. It's part of the reason why there are significant areas of peaceful space in the game along with hardship bypasses like high speed travel and stealth/cloaking devices.
