Olympus System

Post by PaulB »

Has anyone stayed in Olympus for a considerable time after increasing System Rep from Fair to Good and for unknown reasons have it at some future point during a game suddenly drop back to Fair (with no change in the Faction percentages)???

I've had this happen to me twice now.
A month or two back it happened and Vice set it back to Good for me.
Then last night while I was just exploring the Planets trying to find which one had that ship wreck down on the planet surface I had returned to the Station around Sigma and docked and all of a sudden I heard the music which tells you there's a hostile ship around and then i saw a Hostile Guild ship in the Target Display. I check the News Console and sure enough the System Rep had dropped back to Fair. (It's been a month or more since I successfully increase Rep from Fair to Good.)
I hadn't been doing anything but exploring and refueling and more exploring.
I hadn't done any Save Games so I Exited (no save) to the Main Menu and reLaunched and it came back up with system Rep = Good - so I got lucky this time.

Other than these 2 occasions that the System Rep has suddenly dropped back to Fair I haven't seen any hostiles or Combat or Guild or Rebel Contracts at all. Everything is just like Sapphire until this occurs.
I haven't failed any regular contracts and I haven't shot anyone - just flying around minding my own business

Anyone else had anything like that happen in Olympus or anywhere else?

I'm just starting and when I got the Quest to move to Olympus I noticed my status was fair and was surprised.

I just got the message about the wreak and I started looking for it on Sigma. Have no idea how to find it other than it's at 5000 meters and -5000 Y. But I don't know how to get to -5000 Y.

 To get to any location on the Y axis, switch the navigation map to Rear View ... or manually enter the location in the Y destination window.

Did you either clone the un-saved profile or otherwise save a copy? If so, you could attach it here for testing by other pilots.

"or manually enter the location in the Y destination window. "

That was the first thing I tried, but could not make sense of the result.

Well I'm not sure exactly what you are asking.
After I exited (no save) and reLaunched, I did round a couple of regular contracts, and then when I exited for the night I did a Save. But that shouldn't matter - as I indicated - this is the typical thing I've done for the past month(s) and the shift has occured on 2 different occasions. So if I can attach a file here then sure, I can do that and let some others do some testing.
Let me give it a try.
Ok, this should be it once I Post.

 Thanks Paul. I'll give it a try today and see if I get the same results.

I almost blew it by logging on to an MP server ... but I crashed out of the game before the server got hold of your profile specs and changed the reputation to Fair (which will happen whenever you go to MP).

I noticed you had a cargo scanner (C5) so I decided to try doing a smuggler contract ... except I couldn't find one. I guess no hostile action is acceptable when your reputation in a system is Good.

So, instead, I did quite a few contracts ... accepting some of them at trade stations and some in a TW. End result (after about five hours of playing): my reputation in Oly remained Good.

Yes, I should have made it more clear. It's a very rare occurrance. Since I went from Fair to Good in Olympus, it's only dropped back twice in the past few months, about a month apart or so. It just comes out of the blue.

Vice concludes that it ust be some rather specify chain of events causing it but so far he has no clue either amd i can't imagine what it could be since I don't consider what's I've done unusual.
The only things I can say that might not be "the norm" are that proir to each occurrence, say a day or more before, I have jumpped back to Sapphire for one reason or another - in this last case I stored a duplicate Mammoth in my Station Hangar, then jumped to Sapphire and swapped my Mammoth for the Starmaster in storage there and sold the Mammoth (all to avoid paying 2 different Station storage fees) and jumpped back to Olympus and swapped the Starmaster back for the Mammoth in storage there. But if that was somehow going to affect te System Rep it should have done so sooner and not a couple of days later.
The other "out of the norm" event was the day before the "Drop" I took my Build Constructor to Wolf Zone and built a Station and Sub-stations there to see how it would affect Inventories an economy plus bought the Terrain Walker - which dropped my my Credits from $643,000,000 to $627,000,000 and then went back to Olympus to explore and try to find that Wrecked Ship that I kept forgetting which planet it was on.
It was in the process of jumping form station to station and refueling and exploring some of the planets that my last docking resulted in the System Drop.

Anyway, I've since found the ship and explored it using the Terrain Walker - which didn't get me anything - I guess the main attraction was meant to be a certain container up in orbit which I had encounter the prior time I had seen the wreck, before I had the Terrain Walker.

So I guess I'll just have to keep doing the regular contract in hopes I can get Factions up in the 80's and in doing so will prevent the random system Rep drop.
Sp far I've only seen a Faction change of about 1 - 2% at most since it turned Good there.

I probably should just move on to a new star system but I just like to take my time except when I hop about occasionally.
Like in that Lord Peter Wimsey mystery, Clouds of Witness - "I'm a very uncertain bird, always hopping about".

:o About the only advice I can offer is, if you want Olympus to remain Good, don't take that profile into multiplayer.
