Foot Control

Post by PaulB »

Does anyone know if it's possible via a Utility (1st party, 3rd party, or otherwise) to change the sensitivity of analog sticks??
Example: of the Xbox 360, Logitech F310, and Logitech Extreme 3D Pro.

I don't mean the Deadzone - I mean particularly the Pitch and Roll sensitivities.

Pitch is too drastic compared to Pitch and Roll (2nd stick on Xbox 360 & logitech F310 gamepads) and (the Rudder on the Extreme 3D Pro) are way too sensitive also.

I hate to set EM Sensitivity to Low because that makes Yaw too insensitive and even Low doesn't help Pitch and Roll enough.

Has anyone tried Logitech's Gaming Software 5.10.127 profiler and know if it would help with the logitech products?

By the way, I bought a new device rather cheap so I cold have a few new buttons.

PC USB Foot Control Keyboard Action Switch Pedal HID
from Amazon.com

It has 3 foot pedals on it than normally send A, B, or C when pressed - but it has software that you can redefine to send any key - but the catch is you MUST have .NET Frame 3.5 installed for the software to work.

I think I'm going to assign mine as follows:
#1 = Reverse Thrust
#2 = Inertial Reverse
#3 = Inertial Forward

I'm always finding it cumbersome to press those buttons on my Gamepad while maneuvering the Sticks & firing weapons.

I googled around

it looks like there are options for the axis's

I think I see a menu for sensitivity too but it's hard to tell
it might be different depending on your gamepad

I seriously suggest a joystick though
feels much more realistic playing any flying or space game
guess it's to each their own though

anyways, try googling Logitech's Gaming Software 5.10.127 in google images
you can see the interface for the gaming software
looks like the options are there
can't know for sure though

just save a restore point just in case
then try installing it to see if it helps
worse comes to worse do a system restore if it bugs anything up
shouldn't anyways

I use a Logitech Strike Force 3D Joystick and the Logitech Gaming Software 5.10.127. It should make a difference for the logitech devices (assuming they are supported for that Gaming Software version).

You can set deadzone, sensitivity, and range for each joystick axis as a percentage either globally or on a game profile basis. If you go the game profile route I do have trouble with it detecting the correct profiles automatically (not just this game, in general with all games) so tend to use a selected forced profile which can be changed manually.

Also with regard to the last bit concerning the foot pedals, (mainly the two reverse options you listed 1&2). Since you're talking about mapping these to keys, did you know that these two can be mapped to the same key ? i.e. the IDS Reverse thrust and the Inertial Reverse can be the same key. It shows up in EM configuration as a conflict but it doesn't matter, as the IDS Reverse only works in IDS mode and the Inertial Reverse only works and Inertial mode and you can't be in both modes at the same time. The only side effect is when you hold inertial reverse in inertial mode, the set speed displays as -xxxx, but it isn't being used so it's simply cosmetic.

I have a logitech extreme 3D pro and I hate it.
It's to big and bulky and I hate the Twist function - even using the LGS 5.10 and adjusting the sensitivity (being nice) I still hate it.

The LGS 5.10 only work for the F310 gamepad if you switch it to Direct Input mode - which I hate because that turns the Triggers into Buttons instead of Axis #3 (like in X-Input mode) which I use for Roll and it also swaps the Analog stick X-axis and make it Axis 3 instead - and and I use the 2nd Stick for Strafe.
Now that "might" be ok IF I could somehow make the 2 Trigger Buttons be Roll plus adjust the Roll sensitivity - but I don't know how you could do that unless I tried using Xpadder to send a delay after the Button press but I don't think that would really work well.

The other problem is - I also have an Xbox 360 controller which is Xinput only so that the Analog Triggers are my Roll and Stick 2 - Strafe. Therefore I can't have seperate Axis assignments in EM, one set for the 360 and another set for the F310. I tried and it messes up the Stick 2 axis for one or the other gamepads depend on which I set EM up for - UNLESS I set the F310 to Xinput mode which makes it compatible with Xbox 360 as far as axis & button assignments.

So, with all my searching I've found no way to control Axis sensitivity for Xbox & Logitech gamepad (if no in Direct Input mode).

I think there was one gamepad - forget if it's a Saitek or another - it has an oled display and you can set the sensitivity internally they say via the oled menu - but I'll be darned if I'll pay $60+ for a gamepad that has as many negative reviews as it has for that price.

I never though of that - but there's a catch to that.
Suppose I'm in Inertial mode and I need to "fast" Afterburn/Reverse Thrust - I can't do that if IRT and RT are mapped to the same button and a "fast" AB + RT (or FT) can be a life saver.

Concerning LGS 5.10.127 - see my reply to Stateofpsychosis above as to why that's not viable for me.
