choice ship predator or chimeria

Hi everyone,
Posting to have your opinion wich ship would you choose beetween the predator or the chimeria.

What a learn and tested the chimeria have more agility and more armor than the predator.
So far ive seen only one player use the predator.

Everyone will have an opinion about what's best. But mainly it depends on your fly/fight style and what you want to do in-game.

It's a bit like martial arts - some prefer styles where you don't hit often but also don't get hit often (Wado Ryu) but when you do hit it's a damaging precision strike. Others prefer to absorb damage, move in and out punch their opponents (Shotokan).

Yet others prefer to absorb damage whilst they run away!

So agility vs armour? Your choice!

If Predator really is less agile and less hard-ass it sounds like you fly one because you can't afford the other . . . yet. At various times I've tried Evoch-E, Firestar, Avenger and Chimera. At the moment I'm flying the Chimera

What Dave suggests is one of the 'unsung beauties' of this game. That is, the latitude, the freedom to choose your weapons of destruction. Whether it be ships' frame, or the equipment and armaments load-out that works best for you. Both the Chimera and Predator are real sluggers, mobile bunkers/pillboxes, if you will. But, because of a number of considerations, they're both supreme missile-magnets. Also, because of their 'potentials', tend to be at the top of the list for the Vonari swarm maneuver. But, that's just my 'spin' on those two frame choices. I tend to fly less armored, more agile military frames, especially when conducting co-op missions in the war zones. I've a few favorites for those situations as well.

Well what I'm trying to say the following of ship available are listed :
Avenger : 70 aiglity /270 armor
Shrike : 55 agility /285 armor
Predator : 50 agility / 310 armor
Chimera : 52 Agility / 375 armor

My question is simple Why I will choose the predator? he has less agility and less armor as the chimera.
Sorry for my english. I don't know if you will understand what I'm trying to demonstrate.

It's simple! You don't chose the Predator unless you think it looks cool.
The stats is worse than the Chimera so choosing the Chimera would be the logical choice!

My 2 favorites are the Avenger and the Chimera.
What I fly depends on what I'm doing and who I fight!

I've never flown the Predator but I can say this about the Chimera......once you go Chimera, you never look back.

Try the Avenger if you haven't.
Can't take as much beating as the Chim but if you adapt your fighting to it, it's a
very nice ship. Looks sweet to!

Between those two choices, I'd choose the Predator.

It is useful for certain types of fighting...

The Chimera is just a big tank to me... with a very soft spot that I have a hard time protecting in most of my maneuvers.

Not the best but it was the top military ship. The last and heaviest with the most armor.
If i remember correctly very few people chose to fly the predator.

The Leviathan was the top civilian ship and I believe more people thought of that one as a better choose for a heavy fighter ship.

Lots of people liked the lighter ships. I liked the striker for Civilian and the Avenger for military.

There were some very good pvp players I remember from those days who flew the Evoch-c.
Evoch-e was not in the game at that time.

Seriously though....

After running some combat tests in Sierra WZ using both the Chimera and the Predator, my vote would be for the Predator.

Both feel about the same, but armor distribution on the frame is a factor.

The front and top get the most armor, then the sides and tail, followed by the belly. The predator's low side profile means less armor needs to be placed there, leaving more for the tail and belly.

Make note that I could be wrong about armor distribution, but from some experiments Capt_Caveman and I did a while back, this is what it seems to be.

There was a big debate ages ago about the fact that mil ships weren't different enough to civ ships to make them useful (or used!). Most people chose a well kitted top civ frame

Vice refitted military ships with better shields and better cannon performance (hence the inability to mod them), added a cargo bay etc. As a result for certain styles of play mil ships became a possible, promising (and popular) choice

I suspect that if present mil ship specs were ported to Legends the choices made would be very different - to compare the EL and EM choice is not comparing like for like!

Ive seen still some veteran fighting with civil ship and nasty even. I guess its a question of experience.

Thank you for the story davek and nigel yes im flying as you frequently with a evoch recently. But im doing some test with thr predator and the wraith since the fuel was increased it can be a fighter interesting to play.
