This has happened twice now, I flew down to a planet and found what appears to be a regular run of the mill Fuel Converter, only when I sold it, it was worth a small fortune !!
Kind of wondering if anyone else has had this happen, I don't remember specifics the first time but last night when it happened, I found the Fuel Converter on a planet surface and when I checked out the price in the Equipment screen it was $1,656,300 - however when selling it in the pop up window that asks if you're sure you want to sell it, it was going for $41,407,500 !! - and yes that second amount is how much I got for it.
Like I said this is the second time it's happened the first time it was a lesser amount but still over 10 times what I was expecting, and both times it was a Fuel Converter found on a planets surface (different planets one charted the other uncharted, the first time in the last version of the game and the second in the latest version).
My one regret is now I'm thinking maybe (not likely but maybe) if I'd used one of them it would have sucked in fuel at some kind of super accelerated rate... I guess I'll never know (unless it happens again - it does seem random in that I've found other fuel converters on planets which sell for what is expected).

Uber Fuel Converter ?
A great trading op that I've never heard reported before. I suggest that to avoid it being a spoiler, keep the location under your hat (telling only me - just so you have a data backup if you forget
)

ps - it wasn't on Earth, was it?

Uber Fuel Converter ?
Same thing happened to me in the beginning, also with a fuel converter sold at a planetary station and early in the game (must have happened in one of the early systems, Sapphire or Olympus Prime). I wanted to report a bug but never could reproduce it. If it was meant as a 'hidden' and one time secret so much the better!

IIRC the insane high price was not visible after picking up the converter by mouse over which showed a price in the normal range, only when selling it.

Uber Fuel Converter ?
Found some answers on this glitch as it happened again (still only seems to occur sometimes with a random container (grey radar blip) containing fuel-converter, on planet surface).
They don't suck fuel any faster
If you save after getting one, upon load/re-load their value drops back to what is expected.
Moral of the story, if found, convert to credits before loading and then save so they will retain their increased value
