I've read that when there is an increase in Reputation that a message is displayed in the Chat area.
When "what" reputation changes? overall (Hostile, Moderate, Fair, Good)?, or civilian rating?, or Military rating?, or what? because I've never seen a message and I can't find one in the flight logs.
If it's Military then that's why since I'm not doing any military contracts.
If it's the Hostile, Moderate, Fair, or Good then that's also why since until now I've only been doing contracts in Sapphire - Now I'm doing some in Olympus but not enough yet to change from Fair to Good.
If it's Civilian I would think I should have seen a number of messages by now since I'm currently at Advanced.

it's your overall rep;
Hostile, Moderate, Fair, Good
it takes a long time to happen and it wont happen in MP
iirc you cannot leave the system until it changes

What requirements are needed to change a system from hostile to moderate? I guess that you'll need a good standing to all 3 factions (energy, miners and navy) but what is "good" in this regard, 50%+ to all of them? Or something like an average of 75%?
Currently I'm having much fun to fight my way towards fixing that hostile state in Pearl, most problem seem the miners so far. Energy is above 90, Navy is 60+ but miners still below 40. They offer very rare contracts to me (which meanwhile I take them all whenever available). Or are my main problem here the rebels (still too high at 60)? Energy is rising without ever offering a contract to me. I know the basics from the tutorial, but there is no statement about some concrete numbers (might be intentionally though).

energy and navy over 90%
guild and rebels under 10%
not sure about miners
i think they need to be over 50%

Well I had to make a couple trips back to Sapphire to get stuff frm the Hangar to take to Olympus. It didn't change my Navy, Energy, or Miner ratings in Olympus and I didn't notice the Overall # value so I don't know if it lowered any or not.From post: 168545, Topic: tid=11318, author=capt_cronic wrote:it's your overall rep;

I think the Game ought to let you make a trip outside the system if it's just for retrieval/trade purposes and not an extended departure without docking you points.

That must not be quite the criteria because I'm everything under 90% in Sapphire and I've a Good rating there - unless it's just other systems require >90% to affect a change.From post: 168547, Topic: tid=11318, author=capt_cronic wrote:energy and navy over 90%

saphire is good by default
you have to work for guild or rebels or attack navy and energy to lower it there

IIRC, the latest release to the game allowed you to leave a star system without penalty. And, as Cronic stated, your overall SP standing can't get any better than Good ... no matter your faction reputation. But it can get worse if you do contracts for Guild or Rebels, which increases your standing with those two enemy factions ... to the detriment of Navy, Miners and Energy.

Ahh... but the Navy, Energy and Miners aren't always the faction(s) in control. You might want to check the news and info about a system (if available) to determine who you want to work for if you desire the smoothest sailing possible in that particular area.

Firstly, in the realm of the possible, one may not get or work towards, a reputation level better than Good, anywhere in the Evo-verse. And secondly - yes, the reputation roll-over range has been adjusted downwards to 90% or better for the Energy-Miner-Navy bloc, and to 10% or less for the Guild-Rebel bloc. So, if you've been diligent in your efforts, don't be too surprised to see your system reps change state a little more swiftly. (Previous paradigm was 100% E/M/N - 0% G/R.) MP-server space at rep roll-over point: the game software/system reps re-set percentages to about the mid-80's range for the E/M/N factions. And somewhere mid-20's to mid-30's for the G/R factions. (Have found this to hold true, w/o regard to LAN or WAN modes. Test beds: Alpha Centauri, Cerulean, and Talison systems.) EM Solo Play is the sole mode-of-play where the rep levels will actually roll-over to the next 'gaining' status - ie: Fair to Good, or Hostile to Moderate, and et cetera.

But if you do that, won't it lower your Rep with navy, energy, miners, and overall Rep in other systems you've made progress in?From post: 168556, Topic: tid=11318, author=Rubber Chicken wrote:Ahh... but the Navy, Energy and Miners aren't always the faction(s) in control. I think it's all area specific, and doesn't cross over the borders to where you've augmented your rep with other efforts.

Wished I'd known this sooner, before I'm already in the middle of legalizing Pearl. Too late now to return...

Yep, backing Marv & RC. The rep you build among the factions stays with that system where built. "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas." Or in Vega, as the case may be...
At least your efforts Pico, in bringing a certain leavening to Pearl, hasn't gone unrewarded...(?)

Me too. I've been under the impression - from outdated material apparently - that to some degree at least your Rep was affected by what you did everywhere and that you couldn't leave an area before a change in Rep occurred if you had been doing contracts and such to improved it.From post: 168578, Topic: tid=11318, author=picommander wrote:Wished I'd known this sooner, before I'm already in the middle of legalizing Pearl. But if I can leave to buy ammo and things I need and return to continue the contracts and if I can kill those Red antisocial Navy (etc) misfits that try to kill me then that's a whole 'nother ballgame.
That's been one of my concerns about the Docs and some of the "some-name-here" guides is that a lot of necessary info is only half presented and lacking a few vital details about basic gameplay - or it's outdated and leads you in the wrong direction.

Meanwhile there seems a lot of outdated tutorials and videos around, but it's hard to criticize this hard work of former players who did it all voluntarily in their free time. Usually I'd say better outdated than nothing at all but some of that stuff is actually more misleading than helpful. Anyway, in my special case (transforming Pearl into non-hostile) it's a challenge (since I'm still a greenhorn) which I enjoy and learn a lot.

I did my 1st Contract combat related mission tonight - find a ship carrying contraband (using cargo scanner) at a waypoint and kill it.
For as slow as my ship is (maneuvering) at speeds above 1000 those AI ships can sure get out of your line of fire fast once they get hit. Doesn't quite make since.
But I finally got him (only from the quick Comm message I heard it kinda sounded like a female voice and I was a bit uneasy with that).
I suspect these analog joystick controls are linear in operation. I wish there was an option to make the either logarithmic or linear to see how it would affect sensitivity. I've got it on the Low setting and it's still too reactive to me.
