Marvin is Right. Reading through the material of the link it looks like it does not work with games that use image overlays. Which I think Evochron Mercenary uses to some extend.

Some of those dll direct x hookers (
cahem), work, some I find do not. On my laptop for example, fxaa sweetfx refuses to work (the one with the folder full of shaders), but enbseries is another one, and bloom / other shaders do work with enbseries on my laptop, and it has other effects which work all in one .dynamic link library file.
More importantly, I find that Rivatuner statistics, which uses the same idea to limit framerates does not seem to work. This is likely just my problem though (
)
Would love to keep it steady at 40.
Most of these .dll hooks use a certain key combo to start them if you see nothing, I believe it's Shift + F12 or Scroll Lock generally, as well as their setups are found in a .ini file editable with notepad (1 = turn this shader on 0 or a "//" =turn this thing off)
Also of note, these are all post-processing effects, some make no difference to fps, some really do.
eg. I found extra bloom dropped fps by about 2-5, while some post-sharpening after with fxaa shader on kicked my computer's butt. lost around 30 fps. Apparently mileage can vary alot.
The very typical process of using this injector is to inject, aka. copy the modded d3d9.dll file into the folder with the program .exe you want it to run with, or in the /bin if that's available.
That's "usually" as much as there is to it.
Be sure to have updated drivers, Direct X files, disable any anti-virus (which will monitor hookers, it's very virusy behaviour) and of course running the program as admin and security in said folder set to allow everyone, everything. Otherwise it will likely fail to start.
If you're running this on steam, the Black Mesa Mod had a specific version of enbseries made for it to be compatible with the steam overlay, which I imagine would work for any steam game, including evo.

I got SweetFX to work with no issues. I didn't find too much benefit but your mileage may vary. I used the latest ReShade/SweetFX from the website. The auto installer didn't quite work, kept giving me an error that it couldn't copy one of the .fx files. I just manually made sure it was named d3d9.dll and it worked perfectly.
Gal had some issues with it crashing but I think he renamed it properly and got it working. I could not get ENB wrapper to work though, the game would crash at startup.
