How Do You Choose a Multiplayer Server?

Post by Hunter233 »

So I've seen that everyone basically recommends that you just jump right into multiplayer, because it has everything single player has so why not play with others around. I know that in the early game the choice of multiplayer server won't really have any impact on me. But as I understand it, in the later game, things like stations built and fleets that you've hired won't transfer from server to server. So eventually I'm clearly going to want to choose one server and stick with it. My question is, is there really any criteria for choosing one server over another? Do some have particular focuses, such as PVP or RP? Are some based in a certain location, so I'd have less likelihood of latency issues if I chose the right one? Or could I basically put on a blindfold, point at the screen, and just go with whichever server I got and stick with that for life?

I frequent two servers so you are not stuck on just one. It's true that any stations you build on one stay there but all your money and ship for each PILOT profile go to all the servers you go to (not like Freelancer).:) Welcome to the forum and the Game.:)

Hi Hunter - welcome to the game and the forum :)

There is another consideration because of time differentials. I'm based in the UK and can fly during the day (I'm retired) but evenings are more awkward (Her Ladyship (out all day) requests my company! :D). At the time I can play, the UK/Europe is at work and the USA is asleep ;) so I often fly in a deserted or nearly deserted Evoverse!

The best/busiest time globally is late evening (21:00 GMT - UCT) onwards) - The European team are allowed to stay up late and the USA is home from work, had their evening meal and just getting started :D

I play in several servers - anywhere there is another player (for the company and to help if I can (multiplayer mil/combat contracts are much more fun!) or wherever I can get a low ping and minimise dropped connections. Even when alone, I prefer the MP Evoverse because there are more stations built (by other players) - by comparison SP is somewhat sparse, though one 'career option' might be to build lots of stations or to create really profitable trading systems (I created one from scratch that let me make 20+ million per trade run :D)

Unless you are in a clan that has taken over specific systems in a specific server then you've got the freedom to pick and choose according to whether you want company or not :D

:)

Olympus Prime is the most popular being the 1st ppl see they tend to go there and it is the most stable (always on compare to the other one) there is also that MP server that require a pilot profile that never did play offline but i never did see anyone there

What EnoQc said. Generally speaking, OP is the most popular server, and many of the more experienced players are regulars there, and they will be more than happy to help you with any problems and questions you might have.

Right cliq of the mousse on the server to see wich people are conected. Jump into the server where there are the most people connected in your time zone.
The server city alpha have a particularity is for the pvp for clan when you kill a player in a are you will increase 5% the possession. In a normal server it's 1%. So that push player to make fight pvp for increase the % of possession faster :).
