Maximum range jump problem

Post by Prej »

Howdy,

I seem to have a recent problem with maximum range jumps (default combo alt+F2).
Having a Class 5 Fulcrum Drive, my maximum jump distance is 5 quadrants, yet using the combo, the nav computer sends me 2 or 3 quadrants ahead. This never happened before, is it something with the latest update, or am I doing something wrong?

BTW, setting the jump manually to 5 quadrants ahead works fine, it's just the combo that's messed up.

EDIT: Restarting the game didn't help. The first couple jumps are fine (5 quadrants), then it shortens the distance to 4, 3 or even 2 quadrants, no matter which direction I go. I'm kinda buffed here, this never happened before.

Are you jumping on the same Y-Plane?

If you go up or down on the Y-Axis the Z and X axis will not be 5 sectors. (Phytagoras)

*Slaps forehead with cat, multiple times*

Duh, I keep forgetting to take the Y-axis in account. Need to think in three dimensions.

Thanks for pointing that out... :)

My cats are being abused by my forehead quite often, so they don't even care anymore. All thanks to EM. :D

BTW, found a new planet, which makes up for being a mathematical idiot. :P

Anyway, still having problems grasping the whole idea of navigating in three dimensions. I guess this game isn't really for people who were never good at maths. :(

I guess it's back to navigation 101 for me. Thanks, Marvin! :)

 Supposedly Vice has made a couple changes in the latest release to make it easier to navigate. But I'm so used to the original that I never noticed.
