Hi,
I get a chat text notice quite often that somebody wants to trade with me and that I should open up my trade menu.
I assume this is the same "trade" menu that I use when I'm inside of one of the space stations to sell my resources.
So (for me that's set to F2), I press my F2 key to bring up the trade menu but I don't see anything different or anything that would indicate that an AI trader wants to buy or sell something to me. So, obviously I must be doing something totally wrong here. But what?
Any help on how to actually see the trade offer that the AI is making to me when I come across one out in space would be most helpful.
Thanks

Hi, Traijan,
Ship to ship trades are pretty easy. The ship must be within 1000 clicks for the trade window to be available. Call it the trade range.
When a ship requests to trade with you, I think that the target automatically switches to the ship that you're trading with when you press the F4 key (or F2, if that's how you've configured it).
If you are moving too fast when a ship tries to initiate a trade with you, the trade window will not open after you have left the effective trade range.
To initiate a trade with another ship, select a friendly or neutral ship, then get within trade range, then press the trade button. You will see a trade window open OR you will get rebuffed by the pilot, saying that they do not want to trade with you at the time.
This is extremely rude, so then it is customary to open fire in response (JK).

"form".. yes! brilliant. From post: 166580, Topic: tid=11177, author=Marvin wrote:From post: 166569, Topic: tid=11177, author=Nigel_Strange wrote:If you are moving too fast when a ship tries to initiate a trade with you, the trade window will not open after you have left the effective trade range. The easiest way to prevent this is to click on the HUD's "Form" button with the ship targeted. Unless the ship warps out, you'll remain in range for trading.
