Great Game! but no stereoscopic 3D support?

Post by VirgilTibbs »

Hi folks,

I've been trying out the demo and I think so far Evochron is fantastic. Pretty much what I've always wanted in a space sim.

What would make it even better (and a confirmed purchase from me) is support for Tridef or AMD HD3d. I've read posts on here about people playing it using Nvidia 3d vision and how awesome it is and I desperately want to do the same.

I have a Radeon and passive 3d LG monitor. Unfortunately there are no Tridef profiles for this game (that I've found) and no inbuilt stereoscopic 3d option in the game.

Is anyone else playing this through Tridef in 3d? please share your profile and/or settings.

And to the Dev, awesome dude, any chance of AMD HD3D support in a future update?

Thanks!

I'm not aware of any reason why it would not work, at least with TriDef, as it does with the Nvidia side of things. There may be dependencies their software has for certain modes, which may require you use something like the 'Locked' display mode in the game's options. But the game is set up by default to render at needed depths for stereoscopic 3D with everything from HUD/UI elements to ships and planets since version 2.488.

Wow, thanks for the reply Vice.

Yes I have tried a generic profile in Tridef and it does look pretty good. It can look a lot better but the various 3d tweaking settings are a bit complicated for me so was hoping someone else is using Tridef and can suggest some settings or even a profile!

By the way, some of the outside camera views of your ship in 3d do look awesome.

Any suggestions from others playing in 3d?

Another question, does it matter if I buy through steam or directly from this site? (In terms of updates)
It's on sale on steam currently :)

Hi VirgilTibbs, welcome to the game and forum!.....Hope to see you out there some time!.....;)

I usually always play in 3d stereoscopic vision using a Nvidia profile! I guess the setup should be similar!....it took me a while to figure it out was also not that easy. but once you know how it becomes easier and easier. It must be a similar process with other 3d stereoscopic setups just experiment and take notes. There might also be a help site of the 3d stereoscopic setup for your particular hardware and software!.....;)

Thanks Maarschalk,

I've been perusing the Tridef forum but nobody has an EV profile so I'll just have to experiment until I get it perfect. gotta say, the 3d looks great.

And I've purchased the game from steam sale ;)

Now, if only someone can help me with some cockpit mods (I've posted in the mods forum)

 You can learn a lot about mods by downloading the Customizing Kit and reading the ReadMe file. The Kit can be found at the main DL page, here:
