Does Military Rank get boosted by *all* kills in a Warzone?
I have read the tips manual but it only mentions kill as a part of a military contract. Therefore, I am thinking non-contract kills do not contribute towards rank (like the kills of random-spawned Vonari around stations).
Thanks and apologies if this has been answered before - I couldn't find an explicit answer through searches and I am a little confused around game versions!
p.s. is the steam version of EM the so-called EM Expansion?

Hello CorBlimey, and welcome to the game/sim and community!
ALL missions successfully completed in war zones count as credit towards boosting military rank. That also includes the NON-COMBAT missions. ALL kills, no matter how gained, are part of the points mix, whether accomplished under the aegis of a military mission (conducted in war zones), civilian contract (navy ace-kill contracts, miner anti-pirate contracts, navy patrol contracts offered at trade stations outside of conflict/war zones), or 'free range' (no "assigned/accepted" contract/mission). You'll even get credit for partial completion of multiple way-point missions, as well as those kills you've made during the melee. [one point per every ten kills.]
It would help to know the EM game iteration offered on Steam, that you're flying, as in 2.XXX (?). The latest Release Version, as far as I'm aware, is EM 2.728. Would presume it's kept current by the Steam folks. Any iteration of the game that begins with the number two (2), is an iteration of the expansion, (from EM 1.XXX series).

great - thanks!
The version is 2.7xx so that settles that. I was pretty sure it was as I was seeing content like the weapon builder, enemies flying >1000 etc.

Hi CorBlimey, welcome to the game and forum. As Busch mentioned any 10 kills in any warzone or conflict area counts for 1 point towards military rank even friendly kills!...

On about 30 rank now and enjoying the agility boost of the mil ships after flying one of the XXL civ ships (shame I lost maxed out gunner, engineer and navigator but I understand that the military ships at least have the first two built-in)
I might jump on to MP to give that a go - hope to see people around for some military missions!

You can always get another crew together for a civic ship after you get the rank you want. I have Civie pilots and military pilots saved in different pilot slots. It is a shame to lost good people. From post: 165004, Topic: tid=11042, author=CorBlimey wrote:hehe tempting. From post: 164995, Topic: tid=11042, author=Maarschalk wrote:even friendly kills!...![]()
