Constructor Station Issue

Constructor Station Issue
I've made a constructor station but when I dock to it I am unable to make Mechanical parts (and yes I have metal on me) I've tried making different stations in different areas but no luck is there some other component I need to make them?

Constructor Station Issue
I've built several constructor stations and none of them seem to let me convert metal into mechanical parts the option simply dosnt come up and ive got several stacks of 25 metal alloys, Is there some other component I need or am I not doing something alse correctly?

IIRC, you need to have an empty cargo container!......

As AdamSelene points out, you may need for than one type material to build whatever.

May I suggest that you're using/converting the wrong commodity ? Try Platinum.

Constructor Station Issue
I've just recently been able to make the conversion from metal to mechanicals in the game-wired stations located in: Sapphire, Olympus, Cerulean, and Pearl. That was in both SP and MP/LAN modes. I have also been able to make the conversion from platinum to electricals at selected constructor stations, some as indicated above.
As Marv states, some times, the eventual trade benefit is less than desired, compared to the value of the platinum alone in quantity. As was the case when platinum converted solely to probes. With the advent and utility of the Weapons Lab, Vice adjusted some of the basic commodity items in order to help the pilot a bit, during their weapons crafting efforts. Some of the old stuff still converts as we've inherited from the usual sources. And, due to the adjustments on the economic scene, some of these tweaks can benefit the enterprising pilot rather well. Or not, as the case may be. It depends on how you use what you've been given, and where you want to go with it. There are some parameters, and there are some great rewards. In between are the factions and the story line.......and everything else......

If all this is true and it is still not working than it might be just a particular station!...Is it just happening at one particular constructor station that it is not working for you or just at all of them? Can you post a screen shot of your load out and menu?;)
