Hey everyone,
I bought Evochron Mercenary a few days ago, and I'm really enjoying it. I'll admit, I'm barely competent enough to keep my ship from exploding(already happened once: tried to jump while still in a planet's atmosphere), but I'm getting there.
I only learned today that there's a Manual style read me file included with the game (I got it on Steam), and it's been a big help.
I know it would be a huge job, but I could see this game deserving, developing and maintaining it's own wiki.
I originally played the X games (I know: Boo, hiss), but I disliked them for being so slow and hard to make money in.
The first part is my own fault: I like to play trader, which only makes the second problem more annoying.
Evochron doesn't seem to have either of these drawbacks. The mining system and contracts seem like a great idea, easy to handle and the ships, even without the afterburner, don't hang about.
I'd like to ask of those who are more experienced in the game: Does Evochron have the same kind of living economy as the X games?
Like, can I bring raw materials to a production station and sell them? Does the price fluctuate with their own stock of material?
If so, this might be the perfect game for me. A game with Evochron's controls and myriad features, mixed with X's economic system.
Thanks, and I hope you have a great day.

P.S. Btw, there is a comprehensive ReadMe in the main game folder. There is also this: http://www.starwraith.com/evochronmerce ... iverse.htm
Once upon a time, the game did have its own Wiki ... but, as you guessed, it was a huge job and eventually abandoned (or dropped into a black hole ... nobody knows for sure). As for buying an afterburner ... check the keyboard commands (a diagram is in the main game directory) ... your ship comes already equipped with basic afterburner.

Thanks everyone.
I've seen the readme, and it's really helpful.
I'll be sure to check the multiplayer out as soon as I don't think I'll make a fool of myself. XD
Thanks for that Seejay. I've seen your site. I was actually wondering: There were some videos which were private. Why is that?

That's actually pretty ingenious. I approve.
And to be honest, I really have to play more of Evochron. I haven't even mined water or air yet. I'd like to at least have played a good amount of the game before exposing others to myself. XD

Yup, what Marvin said.
The only "locked" part on my site is part of the quest section (Over the Hill).
If you have any other problems, plese let me know exactly what files you can't access.
Nothing else should be "locked" on the site.
Try the quest. I can asure you you'll have a lot of fun flying it!;)

Hello CodofWisdom. Welcome to the game-sim and the community! Pilot DaveK has put together two great compendiums. The Official Mercenary's Manual and the Hints & Tips Guide; both of which support and expand on the info in the read-me file contained in the game software. Dave's done a most excellent job with these, and they're updated frequently. I believe they are both available on SeeJay's web-site(s). Just be aware that the H&T Guide DOES contain what many consider 'spoiler' info.

P.S. SeeJay's Over the Hill quest IS a lot of fun! (And ye'll be a learning some stuff along the way.) Give 'er a test drive!
