What I did when I got bored .....

Post by ELiTe »

... I went to Emerald, selected heading 270, and started Jumping.

And I found 3 planets, uncharted, not listed on Seejay's website :D

Ok, not a quality post I guess.. but I'm new and finding new planets not listed by the community sites is a big thing to me :p

Grats. Exploring is fun. At least when you find something.

Finding new planets is a big thing!

There are some interesting and some valuable things to find. I found a planet with floating trees! Some systems have valuable containers floating around. Exploring can be a full time career in Evochron!

Haha the thrill is just finding planets and walking on them for me. Not really looking for containers or anything.

There's also a whole lot of empty space out there... after finding a couple planets more, it's empty space all the way out to -5200, 0, -600, right off the map :) I didn't keep going left (negative SX). I decided to turn back and head "north" so maybe I'll have a look at some other SZs all the way back to Emerald.

I'm still new so I have no idea how you guys can locate "wormholes" and "jump gates" sitting in the middle of nowhere. As it is, I think I'll need over 300 jumps in a straight line to get back to Emerald if I don't find a wormhole or jump gate :D

 Keep in mind that the Evoverse is 3-dimensional. In other words, if you're cruising along the galactic plane, you could be passing directly over or under other star systems.

So I went on a long journey to 9999,9999,9999.

Since I didn't know at the time, I started jumping from Vonari space (1000, 2500), which I thought was the nearest. Only when I got nearer that I realised that Riftspace was nearest :(

Anyway, I calculated that:

1. Distance from Vonari space to 9999,9999,9999 was about 14,000 sectors.
2. My ship can jump 40 sectors a minute.
3. I have enough fuel to jump 1,000 sectors per "leg" of the journey before needing to refuel.
4. Jumping 1,000 sectors took 23 mins. Refuelling via a deployed fuel station took 20 mins. Total time for each "leg" is roughly 45 mins.
5. Time to jump in a 14,000 sectors straight line without factoring refuelling times - approximately 6 hours.
6. Due to refuelling, the journey time became doubled - 12 hours:(

oh my I've finally arrived!

Dammit, I'm not the first :(

In any case, now that I've arrived, it's another long 10,000 sector journey to the Riftspace wormhole corridor for the nearest wormhole back to civilzation. This time I'm jumping in SP so I'm building stations on the way back so the refuelling time will be cut down drastically. I should be "home" in 6 hours :)

 I find that this little item makes those long, tedious trips across the galaxy a little less tedious:

Image

Especially since the Travel Buddy was tested using routes which (like yours) were along a cardinal heading.

It's probably too late to make this suggestion (since, evidently, you're on your way back) but it might've been a good idea to try and build a station of your own at least two sectors away from the one in your screenshot. 'Cause, if it can't be done, then that station is probably hard-coded. Which means, Vice could've put it there without actually "visiting" that far out.

 One more thing: you need a bigger fuel tank. ;)

@Marvin -

:) Yeah I know about Travel Buddy, but I chose not to use it. Somehow I prefer to "work it out" on my own, ya know?

Oh yes I realised I needed a bigger tank after I've left a station. And, I forgot about it at the station at 9999,9999,9999 in my screenshot too. No, it was a player built one, one belonging to [UE] clan. There's another one at 10,001, 10,001, 10,001 too, also player-built cuz it doesn't exist in SP :)

Anyway the trip back home was considerably shorter - 3 to 4 hours if I'm not wrong. I remembered to get a bigger tank on my 2nd or 3rd station I built in SP on my way back :)

More amazingness from Evochron Mercenary!

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/aUcsFUtTZw0?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

What happened - Reds were swarming the station. I knew I'd get fired upon the moment I exit the forcefields, so I thought I might as well "get a punch in", so to speak, as I'm leaving. So I unloaded my 8-missile Excalibur on a target as I jumped out.

It's amazing that the ships and missiles didn't "unload" once I have jumped out of the "cell" where the action was - the missiles continued to impact (or were decoyed by CMs) and their resulting explosions were visible from TEN SECTORS AWAY!

I'm really floored.

It's really hard to imagine this game is only 150MB in size. Sure beats a lot of 6GB - 12 GB games out there!

LOL I never even realised I could "zoom in" on Seejay's map. It's so cool to see both our routes from U333 LOL!

Now I'm thinking to "fill up the triangle" between Vega and Alpha Centauri.

 Keep in mind that the "triangle" can also be many sectors high and/or low along the Y axis.
