***Incoming Message from... well... the girl behind Cindy & Haroda***

To: All of the true Veterans of this game

I know it will be a while before Veteran's Day comes, but I wanted to salute those of you who have helped me so much and been there for me through many hard times. You guys are true Veterans even if you didn't serve your country. You have served others, helped others, and been the best friends anyone could ask for.

When I first started playing, so many of you helped me. Both in-game and out-of-game. SeeJay, Miaz, Dingo, Busch, Remula One, Inkedmike, Bleve, Powell, Marvin, DennyMala, Starbuck, Tbird, Flash, Sky King, Mecingo, Captain Cronic, Galaxian, Avenger, and many more fine pilots helped me learn how to fight, equipped my ship with the best equipment there was, gave me information on where hidden things were, where trade routes were, and ranked me up in war zones. I wasn't the best friend that I could be to ya'll and had to learn the hard way about a lot of things - some of which I still don't know! lol

I was the pest who had to blow up stations, get many of you to chase me, and then die trying to fight. The one who didn't really trust anyone and had some really big problems. I learned who the people were behind the call-sign. I learned that people actually cared about one another in this game - and would stop a war with you, even don your tag to raise percentages, in order to help you get through the hardships in reality.

I've seen that change in last few months - many of which I wasn't around because of school.

I witnessed the events that left one of the greatest clans in this game fallen apart because of some "young pups" idea of fun. Busch never fights in-game and is one of the best friends anyone could have if you respect him. About that same time, I saw many of the Veterans leave into the shadows.

I, personally, view Busch as a adopted grandparent. Many of the other pilots in this game I view as uncles, aunts, and cousins.

I respect the true Veterans of this game deep down. Even though sometimes I don't know how to show it, I salute you all for your hard work and help in making this game a safe, fun place for me to grow up.

Now I have a shout out to other "young pups," like me, who really haven't earned the right to call themselves Veterans of this game: most of [FF], steam players, and others who in the last couple of years got the game. We should remember to respect those who are older than us in-game. Good times could be had if pilots would respect those who may, possibly, know more about the game than others like me.

This is a call for the Veterans to come back. I'd like to see my friends again. My adopted family. I'd like to be taught more by the true Veterans of this game. I hope others feel the same way.

***End Transmission***

I'm truly honoured to be mentioned in the
same sentence as those fine pilots/persons.

It was and still is a pleasure to help you
and orhers out there, not that I have much
more to teach you regarding ship handling.
I might ask you for help. ;-)

You sure has been a "pain" but also a fresh
breeze to the game and community.

One way for me to show my appreciation and
also honour pilots that I like to call
great friends, is to include them in the
quest project that me and a few friends are
working on. Guess what, you're in it!

Many of us lurk in the shadows due to RL stuff
and simply can't play much for the time
beeing, but rest asure, most of us haven't left.

I actually met god ol Gorf yesterday and he
wanted his ship wrecked by all of us!
LOL, sorry G.

See ya out there girl, and always be yourself.
Don't pretend to be someone you're not!

Cin, you do me much honor... Thank you for your sentiment. I am truly humbled under the strength of your regard....

Due to the progress of my affliction, I've been unable to sit my pilot's seat for more than about 15 minutes at a shot (cumulative effect of radiation treatment). Elsewise, I'd be a flight on one of the servers. [SW] Command Authority has authorized my posting to a clan-reserve status, as a direct result of my slowly worsening physical condition. I'm pretty much relegated to surfing the 4um, flying SP and MP-LAN space (and rather spasmodically at that), and assisting the beta-test team with my small contributions, as deemed prudent. I could only hope that, at some point, I may be able to return to active status, but I'm not holding my breath.

You're not the first young woman, who in-game space, I've helped or tried to protect over the years, but you've proven to be first among those that I've helped best. Stay true!

The Freedom Fighters respects all veterans of this game. It's why we're very happy to have players like Mecingo and Flash in our clan.

Up and downs are pretty common in games and communities, someone gets busy... a technical problem comes up right as we in IM have now with StarBuck without server and PC... it's easy to see someone gone for a brief time as real life always got in first. Don't worry Cindy, it'll be back alright pretty soon.

On a side note... this whole things makes me feel old... :D
Best regards

Hi Cindy,

That's some message. I am glad that we had the chance to chat a few times. As SeeJay has said, a lot of us old timers are in the shadows more and more, and a lot of the time not out of choice but because of RL. I for one know that I have not been able to assist some of the guys on here in the way I wanted and they hoped, but all of the guys you listed are grteat pilots and true friends in the sense that when, and if, I manage to get my life sorted enough to get on line they will welcome me, and others, with open arms and a cold beer as if we had never left.

To all the oldies out there, I salute you.

I have been playing this game from Star wraith, Arvoch Conflict, Legends and Mercenary. The best part of this game is people and Vice's dedication.
Thank you Cindy! Because we all take our little community for granted.

As one of the "Young Pups" who has only owned the game for about 4 days, this is very inspiring. This is one of the best community's I've ever seen. The support is awesome, and hopefully the majority of newcomers (like me) will see this and contribute back to the community after we cut our teeth... please be patient.

Here's Hoping anyway...

Once upon a time in this Evoverse, there existed a young girl that went adrift with another player. Her parents were devastated - they had no clue what she was up to! I don't know what happened to the pair, but I do know the situation rocked the Evoverse.

I only know of the story because when Cindy and Kat first joined in playing multi-player, some veterans pulled me aside and shared the hazards of being in an online community and wanted to be sure that I was aware of the goings-on of my girls. I thank the veterans for watching out for them and showing kindness to them when all they wanted to do was blow something up (again, and again, and again)! :)

The community has grown and changed. The environment is not quite the same as what it used to be. I only bring up this shift because, recently, Cindy was verbally accused of being like the girl from the past. It is sad that mistakes of others gets pinned on the innocent, but that is a human flaw. I just want to clear the air this moment and let old and new alike know that I am still quite aware of who my girls are talking to and what is going on. There is no need to be concerned of "that" moment of history being repeated right now.

It warms my heart to know that there are still players out there (even old enemies!) that stand up against false accusations (not just this one). Earth is a scary enough place; the Evoverse doesn't need to be.

I'd like to add a BIG thank you for ALL the players that continue to limit the vocabulary lessons - whether for minors or for young ladies! It makes life more pleasant not to have explain what THAT word was! ;)

Whoever said that probably meant the way Cindy plays ... agressive without being hostile. Having fun. Not taking victory or defeat seriously. In that, there is very little difference. In a PvP between the two, the winner would be a toss-up ... both were good pilots.

Your thoughtful post honors us Cindy.

I thought for a moment that I might get all philosophical and prattle on about about how we're all veterans of life and such... but the singularity ate my homework so I won't. Which is fortunate for you lot. :D

There is much good in you, I can sense it. And a little mischief... :P

I'm really sure what to say, but I'm glad to honor the veterans. :) And, yes, I'm a pest... and mischievous... and will continue to be so. ;) And SeeJay... I think the rule about just being myself I haven't quite learned yet and may have to unlearn what I have learned... and start again... which would be quite saddening that I never learned. :P

Keep learning, Cin! Keep that gray matter between your ears as active and engaged as possible! Has a tendency to lend depth to one's character, and encourage density to one's soul. And, instills a certain wisdom beyond one's years. ;)

And thanks for the salute! :):cool:

Very good initial post, Cindy! I've never had the chance to "meet" you online, but you do sound dangerous! lol

I am still here and make it a point to visit the forum each day. I haven't been online in a long while because of RL, just haven't had the time to sit down and play. Hopefully, in the near future, that will change.
