Nav marker hotkey
Hey, i'd like to be able to hit a button and set my nav marker to my exact location. This could be very useful in a variety of applications...
For example, if i have an enemy on my tail, i can hit this button, wait a second, and then warp in behind my opponent.

Think you got one already in the F-1 Nav-Con. Believe it's the "set location" toggle. Might wanna check...

Okay.. I did "just check" and one may use the "Set Loc" toggle in the Nav-Con for what you suggest. It's not "auto-magic". You'll have to make a log entry to keep/retain the location grid co-ords. But.... the next time you access your map log, you'll have the marker pop-up for that location. Good way to keep track of those pesky salmonmagentapinkpurple blippage thingies!
Cheers!

Busch is correct. And it can work exactly as you envision. In fact, the function is at least as old as Legends ... 'though I never thought of using it that way.

Well Boldheart, the naming of any maneuver, at least to my knowledge and experience, is best left to the provenance of the creator. But "The Boldheart Maneuver" may make the top-of-list status...
Mebe honorable mention in something Marv or DaveK might produce. It IS a valuable navigation tool, and a useful game skill for all to acquire.

There's a quanta of similarities and differences, IIRC, from the game iterations I have license for, the "Set Loc" toggle is present in/on all of the nav-cons produced by the Boss. Marv, I noticed the value of this feature in Legends, my very first SW3DG game/sim. It's come in handy just for what I alluded to above. One may have grids for a non-specific area, load 'em up in the Nav-Con, push the GO button.. And WHOOPEE!! yer there... Got a pink dot in the radar, but nuttin' on F-1 map slab. So ye drive up real close for good visuals... possibly an insertion line-up. Then the light bulb fizzles and ya toggle "Set Loc", then "Add to Map Log" and name the sweet old bubbella... es completo!

I just tried the nav map set location then jump option. I worked about I in 5 tries by putting me sort of behind the AI that was on my tail. It was fun to do so I may try with more AI's.

If'n I'm preaching to the choir, I shall dismount the pulpit. I am however, both duty and honor-bound to state the nav-con feature discussed above IS NOT an exploit. It has been present in five iterations of SW3DG offerings (AA/AC/ER/EL/EM1x2x) I own license to. The knowledge and the techniques involved, are a valid use and application of just one of many of the Nav-Con's operability and utility features. Many of which function as intended. This one also comes in handy for "escape routes", rally/laager points, or whatever can be made of it's functionality.
And it is that knowledge, and therefor that specific navigation application technique; one of the many that I had to figure out for myself, back around Thanksgiving 2009, when I first purchased Legends - and learned there were "things" to find. Well, I've found some..... I've only passed on this technique, to the few whom I've had the occasion/opportunity in which to grant a "scholarship"...mostly whilst in MP-space, and to some who've become our more frequent fliers. Mebe it's time to go public......

This might also be referred to as combat jumps or micro jumps.
Several players use it I think!;)

Yep, SeeJays' got it! Pilot Gorf and one other I'll not name used this quite frequently. Comes in rather handy in combat scenarios. "Micro-hops" are what they called this particular skill/technique. It can be learned/taught/practiced. Am surprised more of the PvP peeps aren't weighing in on this. Or mebe they're just keeping it to themselves....

There might be a system available, such as GDI's ship-board AI system "ANNA"... And it's very possible, even likely, that the aforementioned "ANNA" system has been programmed with in addition to the more mundane tasks of routine ship operations, some advanced ship to ship combat capabilities that might include for example, routines that allow the pilot to execute close range FTL/Hyperspace combat maneuvers very effectively. By tasking the ANNA AI with the "work" by means of voice command and keeping the pilot's head in the fight and hands on the flight controls, the pilot's effectiveness and survivability in combat may be increased.

The micro jumping technique can be tricky and deadly for the person attempting it in PvP combat. First rule of combat is know your opponent/enemy. Coming out of a jump you will have no energy!.....I leave it at that not to give a spoiler away!......
