Well, it doesn't appear to even be released on the market yet.

So I'm guessing No and No.

Actually you can get a beta version, which includes Doom 3, the first game made for it.

Which answers bothof the questions. The games have to be made for it.

Hey Vice, will you do it?

A very early dev prototype has been released, TF2 also supports it.

But its going to be quite a while before we start seeing any wide spread use by devs and users.

Personally I am looking forward to the consumer release :)

Wow, if the Oculus Rift would work with Evochron Mercenary, I would almost never play another game ever again, that's how awesome that would be. It would really be like sitting in a real cockpit, even more than it already feels like with the TrackIR-System (And I can only imagine how that feels, I have never used one myself.)

Looks cool, in the beginning I was a little confused about the Heat Set, what would you need a heat set for in a game unless your playing on your laptop out in the cold on the north pole?.....Than I realized you are talking about a Head Set!......LOL....;):P:P:P:P:P:P:cool:

:o Or you're playing on your desktop, out in the garage in winter ... 'cause the computer desk won't fit through the doorway.

Because a head set gives you the highest level of immersion in a game. It replaces your sight & hearing with that of the game itself.

I love playing Evochron on my HMZ-T1.

I think it shouldn't be too tricky to make EM work with the OR.

The fact it already scales well for multi screening, looks fab in S3D and has head tracking support means the only major issue might be FoV scaling which might already be achievable (I don't triple screen so havent needed to look in the config files).

If I were Vice I would be talking to the devs of the OR. I think EM/Arvoch would be a fab addition to OR's library.

GearTight is absolutely correct to be excited. The head set nature of the OR will always suit cockpit style games like EM, compared to FPS like TF2 or Doom. FPS suffer from the disparity of weapon aiming and headtracking; you always know the cockpit is forward in flight sims!

I think I probably did mean Heat Set.

Living here in Wyoming with ten months of winter kinda focuses one's subconscious on what is important...like survival visiting the out house.

I think it could be vital to have an OR in the out house.

I like the idea but I think it might be tricky not being able to see the keyboard.. Doesn't matter so much with Doom.

I am jumping on board this thread a little late but just wondering if anyone knows if the Rift has been thought of or planned integration for Evochron Mercenary?

After a 9 month wait I received a dev kit last week and let me tell you, even through its shortcomings it is simply amazing. In Outerra, sitting in the cockpit of a MIG and pulling rolls, being able to look back at the wing and tail to see the flaps move, it is something else! It tricks the mind and makes you move around in your seat to fight gravity.

Travelling through space is a dream of mine just as it is probably yours too - this headset and games like EM, EVE-VR & Star Citizen will be a step towards having that sensation. I would be surprised if anyone here didn't buy a Rift after having a go on one. Especially if you are a space sim junky.

What are your thoughts on it Vice? Obviously the consumer release won't be out for a while (2014), but there is a market of 10000+ people right now who have this thing and the community is itching for good content like EM to try out their new toy. If you ever need a beta tester you know where to find me ;)

The Rift does seem a good fit for cockpit based space games. Now I have one, I'm only interested in games that support it :P

I actually purchased Evochron Mercenary on steam back during the new years sale. I played it briefly, but, unfortunately I just could not get into it quickly enough and do not have the patience needed.

I should be receiving my Oculus Rift within a month or so, and I cannot remember the last time I have been more excited for a piece of technology.

I can promise you (as much as someone can promise something like this :D) that if the Oculus was supported in Evochron, particularly sooner than later, you WILL garner a significant amount of new fans to your game. It doesn't even matter that I didn't get into Evochron Mercenary before, I am almost certain that I would get into it (in more ways than one!) with a rift. THIS is -THE- type of game that the rift will REALLY shine with.

Support would most certainly mean a significant number of new fans to your games, as well as really giving you a headstart if something such as the Rift takes off. Please look into it!

Just wanted to share my thoughts as someone who probably won't play your game without rift support, but probably would if it was :) That means I'd probably buy your next game, too :D
