What is the difference?

Can I game like I would in say Guildwars 2 where apart from maybe helping people out from time to time I can play it like a single player game? But then wander off to solo without anyone taking offense?

That sound so rude doesn't it?!

My game time comes in little snippets now; the odd hour here and there. I was very happy in GW2, until I joined a guild. After joining my snippets would be taken up with pleasentries and I would just end up jumping and wandering around the area I was in, because that's about as high level as my multi-tasking gets!

So, to some up: like that strange person who nobody knows, who hovers around at social events; I want that solo experience whilst knowing real people are close by.

Thanks

p.s. And that's why I have no friends! >D

Yeah, jump into a MP server.

Right mouse click the server to see who, if anyone, is online in that server.
There is a chance you might see others online from time to time depending on what time of the day you play.
You can still play as you would in SP with the bonus of a little text chat interaction with "real" people.

Space is really big and there is lots of room to do your own thing.
Tilde key when in the game will show the players online and their sector coords.

Hi again! :P

MP is just like SP with some small differences.

- Racing against AI can only be done in SP. In MP all racing is between players only.
- Everything you do in SP/MP carries over regarding your profile.
- Stations you build in SP stays in SP and MP build stations stays in MP for that server!

Me to likes to do what I want and have others around that might need help or just do some joint contracts.
All involved pilots in a contract (Pilots in the same sector when the contract was accepted by any player) gets paid for completing it.

Hope this clears the picture for you!:D

 To add: When in MP, press the Enter key to open a chat line and, after you type in your chat message, press Enter again to transmit. If nobody answers right away, be patient. Other players might be engaged in battle and need to complete the contract before engaging in chat.

Awesome!

Thanks. Sounds pretty safe to be unsociable in MP then! :)

 Yup. You can wander off by yourself and pass the time reading other pilots' chat. 'Though, if they hail you by name, it might be nice to at least say hello.
