Certainly doesn't sound like normal operation. What version of the game are you running? You can do a full exit and respawn or travel somewhere else to relocate such items. If you'd like me to review what may have happened, send me your profile for analysis (starwraith.com > contact).

The items available at stations/cities
change all the time. That is normal.
Revisit stations and eventually what
you search for will be available.

I'd suggest making a quicksave after aquiring neat items :)

Alt+F9 is your best friend. Especially when you acquire one of those hard-to-find items ... or after completing a difficult part of the Quest.

Some how when I use Quick Save asigned to one of my toggle buttons on my X52 the game some times exits me instead of saying progress saved.
And some times in multiplay when I finish a combat contract and I'm docked safely back at the station and try to exit the game, the game gets stuck in an exit countdown loop counting down and then gives the message of cannot exit when under fire. I have to jump out of the sector and then jump back to the Station to get out of this exit loop!......:o

The exit "loop" is intentional to prevent exit exploits (after launching an FT is one example).;)

The countdown loop is for when you are under fire!
But I was finished with the contract and I did not use FTs and I'm no longer under fire and I saved my progress and then try to exit and then I get stuck sometimes in this loop that keeps repeating and I can not exit the game unless I jump out of the sector of where I did the contract. This might be a game update issue, where the games update function gets itself in a loop!

It doesn't have to be you that is under fire. Anyone in the vicinity can be under fire to trigger this loop.

The countdown is being reset evrytime someone fires during the count.

I understand, this should be the case for PvP and Clans.
But I was by myself, no one else but me and AIs.
This should not happen when all enemy AIs of contract have been destroyed and none of the friendly AIs are underfire or left.
There was not even a skirmish going on out side the Station most of the times you can hear fire going on if there is a skirmish some where but I heard none!.....:o

Any where in the sector. Players complained that the environment didn't seem real enough ... not enough combat. So Vice added extra AI interaction. You can't always see it but if you deploy a sensor array and watch the little red, green and yellow dots ... then you'll understand what's going on.

Sorry for being late to the party, but in response to the Original Post, - I have also experienced this. It has been in all versions - including 1.x for me. If I save right before a purchase and die without saving right afterwards, when I respawn at the station the items I previously purchased are gone and blank spaces are in their place.

I always thought this was normal.

It is normal, part of an effort to reduce exploits applied during the version 1.X era.

yeah its not too big of a deal i quit the game and joined again and the item list refreshed and i was able to buy the items again. Im playing the newest version, i bought it on steam. I know the item list changes all the time but this was different, when i reloaded the item list was the exact same list as before i died, minus the items i bought. but i didnt have the items and i still had the money. How thats to stop exploits is beyond me whats the point of a quicksave at a station if everything you buy vanishes if you dont quick save and you die. just like Rubber chicken said. Ill have to bind a better key for quicksave, i dont like use the Alt+ keys as i use a joystick and try to avoid the keyboard as much as i can. Thanks for all the replies guys im really suprised.

The Quick Save option can be bound to one key / joystick button. Look for 'Quicksave Secondary' in the key bindings pages. :)

I'm sure if this was an exploitable issue, that even if you or I haven't figured what it would be, Vice has figured it out. Hence why it is this way. After all, one of the biggest tasks in building a solid game, is finding answers to the exploits, loopholes, and paradoxes that can arise from setting what the 'normal' rules/parameters of the game are. ;)

I misunderstood you at first. I thought you were saying after buying those two items, your ship exploded and you died. I read it later and then it made sense that the dying was a result of gameplay immediately after.

The premise behind the respawn behavior is that the game's universe continues on without you. What you bought at the station is effectively removed from the game's universe at that time, whether you die later or not. No need to revisit why it was an anti-exploit effort here, but there are reasons why it was applied this way a few years ago. After you respawn, you can travel around to locate the same items, often in the same system. And better still, as others recommend, it's good to get in the habit of quick saving frequently, using whatever key you'd prefer.

The point is: if you do quicksave and then die, the items you bought will not vanish ... they will still be in your inventory.
