Hi All long time glad to see a lot of you are still around :P I need to update everything as everything is out of date LOL.. As for SC

I have been following this project for about 2 months. I did buy a place in the alpha beta testing and when the game comes out I already have a ship. What I can tell you is that CR (Chris Roberts) is going to do the best he can to give the pilots all he can in what we want. The only way to get it in game is to ask. As for the PC to run it... He has stated that any PC with 4GB ram xp,win7-8 i5 processor will handle this game. It has something to do with the Crytec 3 engine..

Will this game come to a console?

Like all I got right now is a laptop. And until I can get a good job, that's all I'm going to have.

Something to think about....

This game WILL take a beast of a system. Not this years beast, but 2014's latest and greatest.

CR has gone to great lengths to put out an over the top product, which at first seems wonderful, but....

The marketing is also over the top.

All ships will require "Insurance" to be able to respawn after death.
If you bought your ship on the initial pledge, it will come with lifetime insurance. But only that ship!
All other purchasers of this game will be required to buy, with real money, insurance for their ships on a regular basis.

It is brilliant sales marketing, but to me a real turnoff.

Star Citizen may have out of sight high end graphics, but it is designed to suck money like a Kansas tornado.

That is a real turnoff for me as well.

I don't mind buying a game but I really dislike to have to continuously pay for stuff in game.
That's why I never did pledge at all when I first found out about this game.

I'll wait until launch and see what's up then.

:o Are you sure? According to the official FAQ insurances will be purchased with game credits.

Normally, in setups like this, you have the option: either take hours, days and sometimes months to build up game credits or bypass all that work and pay in cash.

Normally, you don't get $8M+ in kickstarter. I doubt this game would be pay-to-win.

If star citizen doesn't work out there's always Elite Dangerous, which is coming first in March next year which I happily backed during kickstarter. Elite forever! :)

If I understand it correct it's Newtonian/Arcade game kind of thing controlling your ship.

If it's more of an arcade game it's not for me, but I need to try a demo before judging
it thou.

1) Can you estimate the system requirements for Star Citizen?

There will be a lot of optimization in the next 24-months, plus the usual fast pace of technology, so it is hard to say absolutely. At the moment you will be able to play it on a 4GB dual core PC with a GTX 460 or greater, but not with full fidelity. If you’re running an i7 2500, 2600, 2700 or better with a GTX 670 or greater you will get the full experience and we will only scale up from there. You will need a dedicated GPU. Since the game is built on CryEngine, their system requirements will stay roughly the same as ours.

2) Insurance on new ships after original pledge purchase are with in game credits - not real money.

3) Yes, there is the option to use real money to purchase items - but all of these can be readily bought by in game credits with a little effort.

4) The marketing is showing the game as it is and as it is being imagined and created. It is a huge game that is pushing the limits of gaming technology to create an amazing experience for the player. There will be no publisher limits, which is why Chris chose to go the crowdfunding way. He will create the game of his dreams and the dreams of the 100k + people who have already backed the project. He listens to his backers and takes their ideas/comments/criticisms seriously.

Please - before you make posts like this - get the facts !! - http://www.robertsspaceindustries.com/s ... n-project/

Thank you for the notes.

The insurance for money was announced on the update section of Star citizen in Nov. The implication of that post was that this was the only way to respawn.

When I read the FAQS at that time I may have missed other in game insurance credit info. It would not surprise me.

I wonder, though, if consumer response produced a change?

I was a little concerned about the tone of my post, but see where it got us. Nice responses from all.

Imagine what it must cost to produce a product like this. I have great appreciation for the difficulty of making any money off of this kind of art and so I am not surprised by any means to scrape in the bucks. No money, no game. CRs marketing is brilliant.

As for the computer necessary to run this, think about MSFlight sims. When each addition was released there were NO computers that could run it maxed out. And that is not to mention the wonderful addons that came flooding in for it. It took three to four years for computing power to catch up with each addition.

I am speculating Star Citizen will be of that class. It is going to be very modable. (Is there such a word?). How to design a game with the information content CR wants, (massive!), yet keep it playable enough upon release. Look at the sizes of the pledges he got. I would speculate that a very large number of people pledging will also be dropping the bucks for new systems.

What do you think?

Well, I have upgraded my system to meet the given specs :)
As for debugging, I'll be involved in Alpha and beta testing, but they have put together a pretty good team, so it shouldn't be too much hassle !

Oooohh.... neat.

It would be great to hear your impressions.

I mentioned MS Flight Sims because they never were playable maxed out at release. Everyone just put up with it , and the bugs, because they were so great. It will be interesting to see how SC shapes out.

Hey guys!

Just because I'm curious: Are there any Star Citizen pledgers out here in the community or do you plan to buy the game, once it's finished? And if yes, which role will you play in our vast universe?

I myself have pledged (Pathfinder LTI) and you will see me, one day, flying a bomber and exploring the galaxy together with a friend of mine ;)

No pledge but it looks very cool.

I will not pay until there is a demo to test
so I can make sure my rig can handle it.

If it all works out I will buy it and I will be a
a hunter and try to kill everyone LOL

I pledged during the initial fundraiser for the Bounty Hunter package(Origin 300i), and then upgraded it later to the combat version, the 325a.

Overall, I'm happy with the way the game is developing, though the boarding action has me a bit wary. To be fair, that's mostly because when someone talks about a space game with multiple types of gameplay in it, the first thing that comes to mind is the infamous Battlecruiser series.

 Actually, I'm more reminded of Star Trek Excalibur. Where the programmers have forgotten that they, themselves, are not the end product (gee, look what I programmed this week ... isnt' it cool) but, instead, the end product is a game for everyone else to play.
