I thought that just saving regularly would be satisfactory. But I got in a bind and stuck because of the single save line.
I remember several references to saving under different pilot profiles. And didn't really understand it at the time.
How does it work having available the 99 slots? And why?
Thanks.

You have those profile slots as some players like to have different ships set ups ready to go at any time. It also helps to save a single pilot to different slots as you go along so that you can do a quick reload without losing to much progress or having to start over completely. The BIG down side is that you have to remember who is a what slot (for quick reference) and the MAIN fact that ONLY the pilot that is in use is updated. I use about a 1/3 of the slots available and I will over write two slots with the same profile each time I save at a point ( I don't just quick save) by going into "Esc" and picking the profile to save that point at.

You can save in a different profile slot in Esc menu. You can also copy your profile file in c:\\sw3dg\\EvochronMercenary\\pilot0.sw and rename it pilotX.sw with X = 1-99.
