Should the 3rd person chase view be 'locked'?
Should the 3rd person chase view be locked behind the ship? That is, should the camera be in a fixed position that does not change with drift and rotation?
Please vote for the option you prefer.

No, the slightly dynamic camera is fine with me, especially since I almost never use the chase view. But it feels a little restrictive if the camera stays in one place and doesn't move at all.

I vote no. It's the main reason why I would use 3rd person view. An easy way to see where you're drifting at.

I vote YES , cause we can t avoid ships, asteroiids, station, correctely being at + then 1000 velocity , playing 3 rd personn view ...(turing right, left , pitch or down the ship disappear )
PLEASE , CHANGE OPTION for that :/

An option would be better than a restriction. Make it an option in the menu and I'll vote yes to that.

I voted for no but only if that means a slight but less than now movement.

Like and fly 3rd person view exclusively. Also like the option to toggle views from the kybd on-the-fly. Either leaving it the way it is now, or allowing for more of the game dynamics "influence" would be muchly acceptable.

I remember bringing this up in the suggestion forum last December.
I think it should be available but only as an option or even extra view. There are way too many people who play this game in their preferred view. It would be unfair to change their play style after so long.
Yes Vice, give us more views please, but only if they are optional. I personally don't like the ship disappearing in 3rd view, but then again, I only use the indicator to keep track of my drift. Others keep track of their drift by the ship's position and are used to it.

Good point. It's also not necessarily an all or nothing option either. I could apply a simple reduction in the level of movement, so it would still shift around, but just wouldn't leave the player's view.

I think third person should be locked behind / over the shoulder of the ship. Like the traditional model in games. But I also think you should have Zoom Out/In and camera panning control to be able to set the camera farther back or forwards, and adjust the view angle depending on your taste.
If people want a more cinematic type view, or a view that follows target, or randomly jumps around.. Why not just give them dedicated options they can keybind to, or a single keybind that cycles through them all.
That's my take on things.

I fly in the cockpit 99% of the time - occasionally I go to one of the others, usually to take an uncluttered screenshot, but very occasionally to have a clearer look around.
So - I'll happily go with the flow
I strongly support the view that changes shouldn't impact on what many players already do
I also like the idea of other view options being available, just for fun, but there must be a fairly limited number that can be created
If other views are on the table I would ask for a "photographers view" - no HUD, frame etc - just a plain view of what is in front of the ship. The view would change by flying the ship around to compose your shot. (It would also be like flying without a ship - nice on a tourist route - imagine a planetary descent in just your spacesuit - I could recreate my avatar!

I never use the dynamic 3rd person view, personaly to confusing to me when the camera angle changes......but I would not want to put a restriction like others said some are used to it! So I would say keep as is and maybe add another more fixed 3rd person view!......

A Question though is the 2nd person view not already the locked camera view from behind the ship?

Whatever for me. I don't use it if not for eye candy and very rarely. It's most a compulsory step to the target view I sometimes use to appreciate the textures or explosions.
Best regards

I was talking about the second view mode when you are in cockpit view and you press the V key once and you get the view fixed from behind your ship. But I just discovered that when you are in combat in this view, the camera view does not stay fixed from behind. It looked like it only stayes fixed when normal flying around. Actually I did not try it flying around for a long time, I do not use that view often so the camera view might not be fixed in this view with normal flying but it might have seemed that way for the short period I tried it for normal flying. From post: 159045, Topic: tid=10610, author=-splosives- wrote:That would be the view from your target's perspective. From post: 159041, Topic: tid=10610, author=Maarschalk wrote:

I tried it in combat and in combat it defenitely moves!.
So yes, I would like a fixed option added, and leave this view as is!......

If you're going to add another view, it might be a good idea to have a title for each view flash and fade every time you change views.
