sell ship

Post by DORN »

I am docked at New Hope space station. I want to sell my saber and buy back a talon for a bit.

I can't seem to do it.

When I am in the ship yard and click on trade and build, I get bounced out of the ship yard.

Nothing I click on let's me sell my ship or trade it or build a new one.

How do I sell it, and build a talon?

Thanks

You might have to sell some of your equipment, Because the Talon has only five equipment slots iirc!
Since the system does not know what equipment you want to keep, you have to sell or store the ones you are not going to use.
Same might aply to the Cargo Bays and what you have stored in them......;)

From the F3 trade/inventory screen, enter the station. Select the toggle for the hangar. Find the toggle displayed to park your ship in the hangar. Park your ship. The "sell" toggle should then be displayed in the hangar menu, as I recall. If you've got enough juice, you could keep it parked, for a fee. Build your next ship from your own funds. Or sell the one parked, or trade-down frames in the shipyard. Either way.... :)

Hi Guys,

Yes, I sold everything off the ship via the inventory screen.

I also stored the ship and then clicked on sell.

But somehow I seem to be stuck. When I try to do anything in the Ship yard, like build and trade, I get bounced out and back to Inventory screen.

I just must not be doing something right.

:o Are you trying to sell your one and only ship or are you trying to swap it (all you need do is make the swap ... you'll be credited for the price of your old one)?

I can't seem to do either.

When I click on sell I get bounced back to the Inventory.

When I click on swap I get bounced back to Inventory.

I have only the one ship, the saber. Everything is sold off of it and the cargo holds are empty.

R U left mouse click dragging the ship frame you want from the right panel into the center window and letting go of it? (drag and drop it)

Normally it will let you pick any frame available and if you don't have enough money, the price will be red ... so no go on trading/selling until you have more $s.

I know those are dumb questions but I had to ask. I couldn't tell the mechanics of how you're trying to buy/sell.

The buy/sell button doesn't work until you select a frame and configure it.

Hank, you get genuius reward for being willing to ask the dumb questions.

I wasn't dragging and dropping. I had forgotten that's how you do it. And for some strange reason didn't pick that up as I was rereading the shipyard instructions.

Thank you thetiebers for the U2U.

And thank you to the all of you for being so helpful.

Thank you.

I love building ships. Every time I swap a military ship for a Civilian Ship I build them from scratch. (i.e., I don't store ships in hangers ... cost too much imho ... so I rebuild cause its just fun)

I wish I had more control over the basic frame scales like you have over each component. I can stretch and shrink engines, shields, etc. but can't with the frame. I might like stretching a Mammoth out and make it longer, or wider, etc. then place the other pieces together. I just like building space ships and would like more options to how they look. I'm not complaining with what we have now ... I always want more.

Can you remind me about stretching shrinking components. And give an example.

I think I saw something in the Custom kit about that???

On the lower right of the center console is "Scale". On the lower left of the center console is "position". The center console is where the image of the ship is rotating. I turn rotation and direction off and turn "highlight" on. (my preferences)

In the center of the main center console is a list of the components you want to modify (i.e., Engines, Shields, etc.). Select the component you want to change and use the left and right sliders for X, Y and Z to change their shape and position and scale, respectively (on the frame you've selected).

Hope that helps ... foods being served so I gotta go for now.

It's not in the Kit. It's an option in the Shipyard, as hank described it.

Hank, you know you can save ships as templates, right? I have never needed to store a ship in a hanger, I just save a model I like and "rebuild" it from a template. I am not sure, but I think templates might even span savegames.

Anyway, I do indeed love making my own ships! Its a pity the mil frames are not customizable, and that no civ frames compare with them.
