On finding new star systems.

Post by KingGladiator »

How does one do it? In a game where there are billions of sectors, how does someone stumble upon a random cluster of planets?

Ive looked and say one person who used the light in the cockpit to try to pinpoint a star and then look around there. But it looks like in Mercenary that is not always the case or the light sources are invisible points. One led me to a random point in space with nothing in it.

So far i just tried buying the largest fuel tank in Cerulean and typed a random coordinates into the system and jumped. Got REALLY excited when i found something, then realized i just stumbled into the war zone. Eventually i DID find a sation surrounded by the Navy that hates my guts. Anyone have the link to report it to Junholt? Cant find the link anywhere.

Try this one. There is a program tool for finding planets also.

Or this one (older)

The perch cockpit has an excellent starfinder for chasing shadows.

The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.

try talking to AI pilots, and ask them for some information. It'll cost you though.

Does SeeJay still update the 'old one' when you add new stars and planets to the map? There isnt a link to submitting finds one on the 'new one'

Nevermind...the reason i couldnt see them was because the game still has the planets show up on the max range of the nav map, but if your y coordinate is off it wont tell you and you wont see it if you go to there.

 Best new method ... it only takes as long as it takes to get to the (correct) coordinates. P.S. Keep you Nav Map zoomed all the way out.

There is an interesting planet in Lost Rucker. I was wondering if anyone else experiences what I do.

I'm on CAV server, in Lost Rucker system there's a planet in the upper mid area of a full zoomed out map that does not show up on the map. I was flying in its atmosphere yesterday, the Sci Ops guy said there may be valuables there but when you go to the Nav Map its not there in either the top and side views. I flew from the Goodwill station N.E. of it to the S.W. until it started looming up out of the darkness.

My nav map never showed it. I had been there numerous times. I build a pair of stations there many weeks ago but never thought to mention it here. The planet is between these two stations. A very interesting thing imho. Maybe its the "Forbidden Planet" ... in my ships, its definitely the "Invisible Planet".

Another interesting thing in Lost Rucker is a Space Port near a star that has a very strong gravitational pull. Your ship will drift toward the star inside the docking port.

So may fun things to find in the Evoverse.

This is Novachron, a nice secret planet with four cities selling very high tech items :)
If you like high grav stations head to the Sunbath station near Erato star (Sapphire) in CAV or SP6 ;)
