recover some sounds

Post by DORN »

I just tried the No Sounds and like some of them very much.

But, how do I get back the default cargo dump clunk and the missile launch?

Thanks,

Go into your Evochron Mercenary\\Sounds folder and delete the ones you want to be vanilla.

The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.

Delete "X:\\Evochron Mercenary\\Sounds" > "weapload.wav".

If you think you might want sounds back later you can change the file name by adding a word like HOLD to it and the Sim will ignore it until you remove that at a later date.:);)

New sounds? The only one I don't like is the mining beam it's so damn loud I have to turn everything down. Aside from that I love the sounds. I would love to have a cool replacement mining sound that someone can recommend however :)

Thank you all for the suggestions. They work.

For Malicar, just install No Sounds, and you will get a nice mining beam sound. Then, as the replies indicate, if you want any of the default sounds back, just delete the new added sound files that you don't like.

For what it is worth, there are four or five sound compilations out there, and between them all there are some great sounds.

There is even a sound file that deletes the radio chatter.

Actually I love the stock sounds and the radio chatter is one of my favorite things in Evo. It's done so well it adds alot of ambience to my game. I remember playing EVE with my own radio chatter layer and it really added to the immersion. The mining sound is fine it's just loud.

Heading over to the mod section now... thx.
