Update and FPS
I'm experiencing about a 50% decrease in FPS, even after lowering my graphics settings. Before the update I got my usual 50-60's with Vsync on and AA on x8. Post-update I get 20-30's even with Vsync and AA disabled.
My system specs:
Win 7 64
AMD 2.6 GHz x4
4 gigs ddr3
Radeon HD 4970 1GB
Thanks you for your continuing and seemingly never ending work.

The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.

Should be in the other direction by a smaller margin, but perhaps there are other factors. Are you using any custom settings in the Nvidia or ATI control panels? Are you comparing 1:1 with the same location in both versions of the game (ie open space in the same sector facing the same direction)?

Update and FPS
I have noticed a slight drop at times.
Around Sierra Station my FPS drops to around the high 20's. Normally it rarely ever gets below 35 unless I enter a planets atmosphere.
Though I have also noticed it is much smoother just about everywhere even where the frame rate is less than it was.
Coming out of jumps is nice and smooth and fighting those reds is better and smoother.
Over all much more stable framerate.
Definitely an improvement on my system : )

I thought I had the same problem, but I just checked with FRAPS, and the frame rates I get are still in the 100-130 range regardless of AA, low, high detail, texture and graphics setting. I had posted before that I had a similar problem but after checking I deleted the post!....

Update and FPS
Ok, seems to be getting some mixed results, some up a little, some no change, some maybe down a little. I'll keep an eye on it and I can reverse certain changes if needed.

Update and FPS
I went from 28-40 FPS depending on the server and location now I am getting 9-14 FPS. All settings are set at the lowest and after the download my Wingman 3d extreme started spinning with no control after game load ups. Exit went into options and joystick control locked up.
My FF buddies (Set & Poly) recommended that I delete the sw.cfg file exit the game and reload game. The rebuilt that file and my joystick issues went away. Still extremely low FPS 9-14 in Saphire 0-0-0 location on two different servers. Using Windows 8 Pro 64bit.
Other pilots on TS and playing the game were having same results.
When I checked ~ player list at 1 am CT I saw at least three pilots in red (including me) from low FPS. Everyone reported lower FPS and lag. I did experience any lag just low FPS.

Raven, what are you system specs? In particular, your 3D video card make, model, and driver version.
The loading issue could be related to changes with the camera sequencing system, something probably not related to the FPS issue, but something else that will need review if your display device meets the requirements.

Update and FPS
I was just about to edit my last post to add specs....
Windows XP Pro SP3
Intel Pentium 4 3Ghz
nvidia GeForce 9500 GT, driver version 310.90 (should be the newest driver)
2.5 Gb RAM
Rolled back to 2.208 and can still play online, so no panic on my end.

Update and FPS
Been working on this all day and finally found the cause for a framerate reduction on some systems. Has to do with higher CPU tasking during certain (new) operations. So while the GPU optimizations improved performance on that side, the CPU side could take a hit, resulting in an overall lower framerate on some systems. I'm working on the solution now and hope to have an update available within the next day or two.

Updated to 2.298 and picked up +2-5 FPS. Not much, but any improvement is impressive on my system! I don't know how you do it, Vice. Thank you.

Update and FPS
Some of those FPS drops might be a primary result of the internet connection. Internet connections/server speeds can often be the bottle neck in online games (or YouTube in the evenings). If the expansion requires more data to be sent over the web--I don't know whether it does--then some people might see FPS drops as a result. One easy way to see would be to compare performance online and offline. Just a thought.

Update and FPS
My FPS is steady at 60 fps due to Vsync and tripple buffering enabled in stations and in space and drops to 40-50 FPS in atmosphere and planets, but still smooth.
I use maximum settings with 16x FSAA and 16x AF.
No mods installed at this time.

Update and FPS
Where do I see my FPS? When I hit the "~" key in MP I think I'm seeing other players FPS but mine is not shown. Is it one of the numbers in the upper left?
I'm at work and can't look but I seem to recall there's two numbers in the Upper Left. What are both?
