doing some trade ops in EM and found it more profitable to pick up lost cargo containers on planets (and doing some tourism) instead of buying low and selling high which is only worth with the Fuel Converter or some weapons.
But it can be *damn* hard to pick up containers. For example, if they are in the water:) As soon as I beam water, metals etc. I discard them (there are no containers being expelled from my ship though... strange), and then trying again to pick up the container with no avail.
The problem is: sometimes the Beam device will point straight at the center of my aiming marker, other times it will not, making it impossible to pick up specific things; why
Thanks Marvin
The Terrain Walker, yes. I'm still eager to find it, can imagine it will cost some bunch of money:P
I've now found out that when scooping water while hovering at 0 speed, the laser points below or behind my ship. Instead if I fly high and I'm pointing down 70-80 degrees down I will succeed in getting the beam straight forward.
Also, just got another ship explosion trying out the Fuel Converter (I thought that before re-selling it to make a 60000 profit it's good to try it out and get my 800 fuel tanks full, but I didn't take account about gravity value: 0 speed + gravity value means you get into the sun at the speed of gravity value.
These savegames really do for me :P:P
You can also use the Fuel Converter in Gas Giants, which have gravity too and Nebulas, which don't.
But as to picking up Cargo, buying him a drink usually works.

The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.
