As some of you might know (and others might not ) you can retrieve energy pods and transport them to somewhere else on a couple of locations in the game.
After talking to Busch in game about this, he told me that this was sometimes used for capture the flag-style events in game in previous versions of the game.
What I'm wondering is, what purpose does it serve now? I guess it could still be used as a capture the flag item, but does it have any other purpose? Can you for example make money with in some way, or get your hands on an incredibly exotic piece of equipment? I tried to pick it up and bring it to 'the other' location a couple of times, but I didn't notice any changes on my bank account or my equipment.

Well I retrieved an energy pod in a giant asteroid and delivered it to a weird device at the same place. I'm quite sure that my bank account was increased with 1M credits.
I recently had the opportunity to play capture the pod with a friend. There was no shooting, just trying to steal the pod from each other and deliver it to the receptacle station at ridiculously high speeds. You should try it with a friend sometime. It's actually very challenging and fun!
The only down side is, - if the other player takes the pod from you then you'll BOTH have a pod, so you have to pay attention to when the pod gets taken so you can drop yours. Otherwise it becomes a race to the receptacle with both players carrying a pod.
