I appreciate all the hard work going into testing, by you guys!
I realize it's pretty involved (having done testing myself, in the past)... but if things are looking good so far, any prognostication that we may see it by Christmas/Holidays?
No big deal, if not - I'll be knee deep in alligators at work right up until the holidays, myself!
I'm sure it can be released this year. When exactly depends on whatever decisions vice will make. Every addition in the game needs a lot of testing ad fine tuning.
I even thought it could be released a month ago, but then people keep finding more stuff to improve and fix.

True statement - it's like a work of art (and no mistake - that's what this sim IS)... sometimes you just have to say enough! Because, otherwise, the "work" is never finished!
While I'm thinking of it - rather than post a new thread, I'll pose this question here:
Near as can be known at the current stage of development, will the same 'pilot experience' transfer to the expansion game, or are the changes so significant that a new one must be created?
I'm wondering, because it factors into how much time I want to invest in the stats, factions turned in various systems, etc. where I'm at now.
I'm OK with it either way, but would appreciate the "heads-up" if these are known, at the present time.
From what I've read elsewhere, the servers have the option of starting over or maintaining the status quo. Which suggests to me that pilot profiles will carry over to the expansion.

Getting the factions to 'like me again' is no big deal., if needed.
Maybe I should start now by raiding them (SP, of course) and taking all their shizz... then come back later (after the expansion) with an "aw, shucks...can't all just get along?" grin!

I think we're all just keen to play what looks like a very promising update.
I'm wondering how the update will be distributed. What modded files should I back up in preparation? I play the Steam version, so will it be automatically installed some (hopefully soon) day?
I wonder why the dev-blog has been avoided now for so long. i found them to be an interesting read.....

Yes, I was wondering about that too, though I suspect Vice has been too busy to update it lately. A pity though, was nice to see what he was up to with the game.
It would certainly make for a great Christmas present, wouldn't it?
