I understand the concept of fly by wire but I don't think I've ever seen it in use. Correct me if I'm wrong but Evochron does NOT use fly by wire?

Technically speaking ALL flight sims are Fly by Wire.

Fly by wire?
In EM, IDS mode is fly-by-wire--the ship automatically calculates which thrusters need to fire to get the ship moving at a certain velocity in a certain direction. With inertial mode, the pilot has direct control of the thrusters and needs to figure out which ones to fire to move and orient the ship.
Interestingly, the flight computer necessary to implement fly-by-wire in a freefall spacecraft is an order of magnitude simpler than aircraft: if thruster performance is consistent, the math is a lot simpler than accounting for aerodynamics.

Fly by wire?
Given the definitions below, as we use electronics to control our ships, yes Evochron is a FBW sim as Rubber Chicken noted above.
Fly-by-wire (FBW) is a system that replaces the conventional manual flight controls of an aircraft with an electronic interface. The movements of flight controls are converted to electronic signals transmitted by wires (hence the fly-by-wire term), and flight control computers determine how to move the actuators at each control surface to provide the ordered response. The fly-by-wire system also allows automatic signals sent by the aircraft's computers to perform functions without the pilot's input, as in systems that automatically help stabilize the aircraft.
Automatic Stability Systems
Fly-by-wire control systems allow aircraft computers to perform tasks without pilot input. Automatic stability systems operate in this way. Gyroscopes fitted with sensors are mounted in an aircraft to sense movement changes in the pitch, roll and yaw axes. Any movement (from straight and level flight for example) results in signals to the computer, which automatically moves control actuators to stabilize the aircraft.

A cable made from Spider Silk is stronger but more expensive!....

Bailing wire comes in different, strengths, thickness, sizes and rolls. So it depends on what needs fixing, the bubble gum wil definetly help but I'm not sure about the bailing wire, I have seen many of them snap if used wrong!....From post: 151917, Topic: tid=9961, author=Busch wrote:Bubble gum and bailing wire'll fix anything.....
