Hey Marv...saw your Ahoy briefly before the game crashed on me. Was getting late for me, so I just said the heck with it and logged off.

Will try to catch up with you all soon.

Hey IM, i' puttin' a request in for joining this guild. I've been a lurker here for a little while and wanted to ramp up my interaction with this game (I just got a new joystick). I've played the game for roughly 50 hours and used to have the callsign Kincaid (switching b/c i use CleverBullet in most games). Marv you helped me get going in the game and i'm rather appreciative of that.

So yeah. Stuff.

 Sure thing, Bullet. But Starbuck's server is down and might not come back on line 'till the expansion is released. So, what we do now is kind of a dry run for when we can all jump onto an "expanded" server. 'Till then, practice your airmanship and spacemanship on whatever server shows up.

Heya pilots! It's been a while; classes started again :P. Anyway, I hear the update is on the horizon. Is there any thread I should look at for recent details? I would like to get back in, but things got kinda monotonous. Hope things have been going well.

Happy hunting!

 Vice did post a list of changes and additions which will be part of the expansion. There is also a YouTube video ... which would probably be easier to find since YouTube has a pretty good "search" function and, at the moment, I can't find the links to anything (I'm using a different computer from my usual).

As a mercenary and charter member of the Guild of Independent Merchants (I see no contradiction in being both), I figured the galaxy was getting too small for our guild. Leastwise, that part of the galaxy connected by jumpgates (what I call "The Gated Community"). So I decided to set out for parts unknown ... but not so far out in the boondocks as to be unprofitable. Because our main objective, as merchants, was (and still is) to make a profit.

We needed an anchor point. Some place within The Gated Community close to wherever it was we would set up shop. Close enough, anyway, to make for easy trips back and forth ("easy" being a relative term). Close to some yet-undiscovered star system where a rudimentary civilization already existed. First, though, I needed to find such a system.

And I found one. A star system where humans have already established a few cities and trade stations. It's perfect. Off the beaten path but close enough to The Gated Community to make for profitable commerce. And, as an added bonus, quite near a major transportation hub ... one which, once IM establishes its territory, would come under our domain. An asset of incomparable worth.

Yes!

It wasn't easy. From a pilot who goes by the handle of "Atollski," I borrowed a slipdrive compatible with my shipboard computer. The slipdrive contained a program called "Map Log" whereby I could travel through uncharted space and, every time I entered an area of unexpected gravitational influence, a notice would pop up on the ship's console. Great.

Granted, it took some string, a wad of chewing gum (ABC) and a couple well-placed kicks before the slipdrive would properly interface with my ship ("compatible" being a relative term) ... but perseverance eventually proved successful. Then, after crossing over into an uncharted area of high gravity, all I had to do was fly a somewhat zigzag pattern between a known gravity field and the newly discovered gravity well. Do that a few times ... then query the Map Log program ... and voilà! The slipdrive spit out a few suggested sets of coordinates ... all of them close enough for government work.

Consequently, IM is now in a position to dominate mercantilism in and around the southwest quadrant of the Evoverse! Our possibilities are limitless.

Yesterday, while building up percentages in IM's newly developed territory, I accepted a request from the Navy to intercept a smuggler transporting a Hoarder's supply of food. I figured the smuggler wouldn't be too difficult to find ... me with a class five cargo scanner and the contract being out in the boonies, away from even a nearby planet. Luckily, I was correct in my assumption: only two (or maybe three) ships at the waypoint. After exiting hyperspace, I targeted the left-most ship and closed in. My scanner picked up his cargo signature at 2500k, clearly listing the 25 units of contraband food he was carrying.

I engaged "Formation" mode to close in, then queried the pilot for information ... just in case he had an explanation for his actions (you never know ... maybe he needed the money to feed his wife and a handful of kids). Instead of handing me the usual cock-n-bull story, he offered me the opportunity of a lifetime: coordinates to an unexplored star system. For the measly price of 55,000 credits. Well, I figured it wouldn't hurt to "lend" him the credits ... since I planned to blow him up anyway. I telegraphed the money and, in return, received a set of coordinates any explorer worth his salt would give his right rocket fin to have.

Overjoyed, I cancelled the contract and let the poor bugger (I sincerely hope "bugger" isn't another British swear word) go.
