Have cargo stack when you beam it onboard. Right now I can beam a crate of 12 cargo and one with 14 cargo and instead of taking up one slot with 25 and one slot with 1 it separates them each in their own slot. This is frustrating if I just killed a bunch of bandits and their is more than five containers floating around.

Hello all, I've just been playing for about a week now but I have some ideas that may be interesting for the expansion coming out or the next if there is one.

First off I have to say my love is 'world building'. Now most will not know what this is, but some may. It's a hobby/passtime where you go about designing creative worlds/settings for mainly scifi things. Look up Orions Arm if your interested in it.

Anyways I love building stuff in my single player game. Trade stations pop up all over the place when I'm bored or wanting to make something interesting. One thing I have found that I am unable to do is build cities on planets. Actually I've been unable to, as of yet, find a planet without a city or two.

So my suggestions:

- Make planets not have cities in some hidden places and possibly in known systems.

- Ability to build cities (costs can be more than a trade station or what have you)

I had some more idea but they have escaped me.

There are indeed lots of planets without cities, both uncharted and charted.

I like the idea about building cities... especially interesting for clan system control. Perhaps having clan cities on a planet could automatically generate clan-affiliated AI which would attack any pilots not of the system-owning clan.

It would be cool if you could build a settlement on a uninhabited planet and it would then grow by time
and eventually there is a city. The builder (colonizer) would benefit from this settlement as well!
Protection would also bee needed (build) so it will be hard to destroy for others.

As MCCON said. There are hundreds of planets without any city out there!
\"Nothing is impossible, it only takes a bit longer!\"
\"We are not retreating, we are advancing in another direction!\"

Fair enough, I've just not done as much exploring as I would like. Everywhere I go there seems to be cities.

Anyways another idea I had lastnight whilst in bed, sick as a dog:

Shipyards.

We all know trade stations and cities can let you buy ship frames, but where do they get made? Here are my thoughts:

Allow them to be both in the game like existing trade stations, and player built. They can have a 'loyalty' to the the highest faction rep of the player that makes them in that system. So if miners have 94 rep and everyone else is below it 'belongs' to them. The point of this would allow it to generate more contracts for that faction (could have them un-aligned also for easier less confusing coding etc).

The points of having ship yards:

1- They pay a premium for materials (10-20% more paid for materials, NOT finished products)
2- They pay 10-20% LESS for finished products (after all they make them themselves, why pay a premium?)
3- They offer more 'gather' contracts (get 25-125 units of item X...mainly the ones you can easily get via mining atmospheres/asteroids/rings/planets surfaces)
4- They offer salvage contracts (a go to point X and find the ship wreck, stay in proximity for 60 seconds...watch out for bandits!)
5- Can rarely offer military frames, even in Civ systems (and vice versa in war zones)
6- Ore processors near by will increase their buying proce for ores by 5-10% (metal/plat/diamond/silver/gold)
7- They will offer more energy and miner based missions and less navy ones (unless in a warzone, then even)

I had some more ideas for it but I didn't write them down and have thus forgotten.

To build you need the same equipment for building a station, takes 3 minutes to build and costs 3-5x the cost of the trade station. It's tech 'level' can be boosted exactly like a trade station but will always be 1 'level' behind due to not getting a large flow of finished products from outside (they make it themselves from the stuff they buy, trade stations are just black holes for produce).

Thoughts?

Server side saves. To easily play the same character on multiple computers without having to move the file and to give trade between players a more meaningful purpose.

Freighters with larger cargo capacity than non-freighter ships.

If Vice made player created cities destructible, use the same model, and limited 1-3 per planet then that would be a freaking awesome idea.

Pilot a Capital ship, just for fun.

Make it unable to use regular warp gates, unable to dock at stations, unable to take contracts, doesn't matter.

Make it cost 10 billion....

One thing I've though about, is a "continuous jump" option, where you just choose to remain in "hyperspace" until you reach your destination, as opposed to pulling out every few sectors.

Obviously that's contrary to the current jump-drive design where you can only jump a certain distance before having to recharge weapons energy, but honestly I don't really see the point of pulling out every ten sectors or so just for a few seconds. Aside from the occasional glance at the nav map for nearby celestial bodies, I feel like it doesn't serve a purpose.

Maybe you could choose whether to do interval jumps (for exploration) or continuous jumps (for rapid travel to a specific location). And continuous jump would have some sort of proximity alert and/or progress bar for distance traveled.

I suppose that with autopilot and full weapons energy, it is pretty continuous, but I feel less like I'm traversing vast distances when my jumps only last a couple of seconds before I'm back in realspace, waiting for engines to warm up again.

The current system works, but this is something to consider.

The whole point of a warp is to travel great distances in a few seconds. A longer warp would not make me happy at all. A longer reaching warp drive that can only be constructed by extremely wealthy players would make me giddy like a schoolgirl.

And by wealthy I mean it would cost a minimum of a billion. I would really like to see some price inflation and more exclusive items.

The Starmaster really hit the nail on the head for making something exclusive. Now you have to go to certain places to get it. More items like that and if player created items were made exclusive that would be just awesome.

Upgrading station defenses or shields by doing 100x contracts for it would be awesome too. Upgrading your hangar space would be fun.

Upgrades to your sensor system would be fun too. Especially if there was a trade off to be made. Long range sensors take a trickle charge of weapons energy while short range take nothing.

Those sound like great ideas, EN4CER, I also agree with the idea of more exclusive items. Particularly commodities such as platinum and diamond etc, which should be rarer, and only certain commodities available on certain planets. and also more industry to give us stuff to do with the commodities.

And as to the long jumps, you would still travel the same distance at the same speed for the same length of time, but your ship wouldn't have to pull out every few seconds until the weapons energy recharges. So it would take less time than normal autopilot interval jumps. I do, however, agree with including higher level jumpdrives. And I suppose that would be an alternative.

But honestly, I don't mind a little downtime during a long journey. Gives me a chance to think about what I'm going to do when I get to my destination, and it lets me go make some food or get something to drink, and I imagine for my pilot to do the same. I figure that's part of the simulation.

A server without AI's only human players. This would allow more people to play and make the game more violent!!!!!
Who ever runs the server could have the option to play with or without.

One thing that I think would be neat is a way of determining where another pilot has jumped to.

I know that the expansion will allow you to automatically jump with people in your formation, but I mean for chasing hostile pilots.

I was thinking some sort of equipment that would track your target and give you the coordinates of the ship once it comes out of jump. (obviously it can't detect any more jumps by the same pilot if they are then out of scan range)

Or it would would be a secondary weapon that you could fire at a target and, if it hits, gives you their jump destination/s for a limited period of time until its timer runs out.

And while I'm at it, how about some sort of deployable structure that would prevent people from jumping in to or out of its radius, similar to the Imperial Interdictor Cruisers from Star Wars ;). This, in tandem with my earlier suggestion of a defensive battle-station, would be a very powerful way to protect areas from clan invasions!

Some great IDEAS here!!!! Hope even just some of them make it....

I can see the KLONE in their Cap Ships destroying the [FF] CITIES on their PLANETS and landing on their MECHS and releasing our own MECHS that shoot MFTs... Mini Fulcrum Torpedos!

Stealth Generators on your Stations....

Customisable Stations.... Would be good to have different looking stations than our enemies.... or even just colours?

Ship Tractor Beam.... IE ABDUCTION RAY.... lol.... I'd love to come along and abduct a new pilot and take them far away, and then leave them there.... IN THE MIDDLE OF VONARI AHH HAHAHAHA!

Ship SPEAKERS, on the side of your ship, so you can have a party in space....? lol....in a muted vacuum.... we all know that's not true!!! heheh.... So SPEAKERS, you can press a KEY and SPEAK through your SPEAKERS on your ship, giving ORDERS or just playing sounds.... FUN!!!!

Build....PLANETS!!!! in your systems. NEW SYSTEMS.... for your new PLANETS!!!! That would be awesome too.... probably already said before, i'm just making it up as I go along.... and now I can't be bothered. That's enough making stuff up or I'll just keep on and on and on....

Heya guys, haven't posted in a while now :P

I think it would be great that when the expansion hits, it would allow people to fly faster in a planet's atmosphere. Right now, it's just boring as heck due to the extra-tight speed limit.

First let me say I love this game. I've spent a lot of time in it already, and well I just love it haha.

Things I'd like to see added divided into two subcategories:

Content Suggestions
================
1) Sensors! By that I mean I want upgrades, and advanced windows for scanning foreign objects in space, and for that matter more foreign objects in space! I'd like to see proximity sensors, deep space scanners (narrow and wide beam), various modes of scanning something (i.e. topographic, heat, etc). I'd like to see situations where someone is hiding in an asteroid and my weak sensors can't find them, but if I had a high power narrow beam sensor array it could penetrate the rock. This could also open up avenues of realism such as object material densities affecting certain types of scanners or slowing their scan, etc. I just think it would be neat in a space Sim and it's something I've never seen in a game to date.

2) Comms! Let's have some radio comms bwtween NPC's and real players, maybe even add means to jam comms of ships for tactical reasons. Also, when I say comms I don't mean rigid hard programmed responses like other games have tried. Let's get some real two-way live communication going!

3) Missions!Let's face it, you can only clean so many solar panels before you want to rip your face off. In an effort to improve this, I'd like to suggest more science-based missions. I'm a huge science nerd and if I had my own starship I'd be flying around the big void doing experiments on stuff. I'd like to see this in the game if possible. It could tie into the economy and add another dynamic there....idk.

4) More ships and ship stuff! Also, I'd like to see sub-components like your engines and stuff actually affect armor or shields, etc. If they already do, bring it out of the background and allow players to track and see how ship upgrades improve those aspects.

Player/Game GUI and Mechanics
============

1) Different cockpits for different ship frames

2) More intuitive party system so you can easily link up with a bud and explore space

3) More subsystem control. This is actually one reason I love this game so much; it already has a lot of subsystem control, but I still want more!

Well, that's all I got for now. Thanks for reading and I hope I didn't double-tap too many other peoples' ideas.

Yes, to all your ideas Speaker Rob!

I've also thought of different cockpit for different frames.... as it is now I swap cockpit mods when i want to swap from my mlitary frame to my civi frame, so that kind of works but would be sooo much better if that was in-game!

I believe that some of your ideas will be addressed in the upcoming Expansion, at least to some degree. I've heard there will be more relevant AI radio chatter that will provide useful informaiton. There will be more detailed customization of ships and equipment. And I think there will be a better system for flying in formation with clan members across multiple jumps.

Planet rotation / orbital stations?

Ex. If you build/deploy close enough to a planet/BH/star, the object must start cycling on an orbit to maintain the distance from it's neighbour

Planet rotation would result in day/night cycle.

Also would love to see (but really high quality) aurora's on planets like ice Sirius, occuring randomly on both pole's.
IMO that would be beautiful :)
