I don't see any good reason to switch to steam. It complicated launching and directory structure as well as requires an internet connection to play. Having a personal download is the superior method of ownership but the biggest strength of Steam that greatly effects my own purchasing decision is that I do not have to keep any record of my keys and that the download is always at your fingertips.

I think Imma download it from the site rather than from steam. I have steam but you can't play some of the offline games unless your steam name is online. On top of that, there are still some issues with playing games even when your name is online. Steam is good, but if there is a game that can be downloaded without steam, I'd go for the non-steam copy. That's just me.

You can play any steam game in offline mode without extra effort. That being said I don't think there are any benefits to have this game through steam unless you want to keep track of how many hours you lose to it. But there aren't any downsides either. From post: 142081, Topic: tid=9659, author=EN4CER wrote:I don't see any good reason to switch to steam. edit: may change if the game gains steam integration in future versions with achievements and whatnot.

You can give a man fire and he will be warm for a day, but set him on fire and he will be warm for the rest of his life.

Thanks, just wondering
From the response I don't see any reason either thanks.
As far as saving keys, I have to say that I highly recommend firefox for saving things like notes to your bookmarks and of course xmarks for sync you really can't ask for more on this.
When you right click a bookmark link on firefox there is a notes field in which you can take notes and put in your keys and user/passwords and thus you always have this from your browser including forums user/passes etc.
I don't know that I feel comfortable with this for saving banking info etc. but still you can use xmarks to sync/save your bookmarks to your own ftp or webdav as well and thus you could make it secure with no need to use the xmarks online file storage if you feel more comfortable with that.
But anyhow I don't think chrome or IE has the ability to right click bookmarks and leave notes which is one thing Firefox is really really good for
Thanks all

Is there any reason to switch to steam or just keep playing my downloaded version
Oh one last thing, When steam comes to linux I would likely go that route only because I have to boot to windows just to play evochron which is the only reason windows is on my computer at all LOL
Or I could try virtualbox and run evochron but I'm concerned about the performance issues if I do that, but haven' tried it so I really don't know for sure. I might try this sometime this month and see how it performs, only to allow me access to linux if I need to pause the game or exit quickly for some reason I could just access something on my linux machine then get back to gaming without rebooting etc.
Anyhow just something I'm thinking about
