Software for making banners and the like.
Does anyone know of a good program for making banners that is free? Don't have a job or I would get Photoshop but is there anything decent you all can suggest. This might be the wrong place to ask but I think it counts under creativity

Yes GIMP is what I cut my teeth on about a year ago and at first I pretty much wanted to bang my head against the keyboard due to zero knowledge on graphical editing. Luckily if you Google what you want done there is a guide for EVERYTHING. Just make sure to put +GIMP (ie google: How to add shadows to a picture +GIMP). Almost all of the guides have photos and very detailed walkthroughs. Open source for the win.
