So you want to be a rebel?

Post by EN4CER »

Ok I think I've got a pretty solid grip on the reputation system. It's sector based and requires completion of an entire tier of reputation for the gains to be permanent. Law abiding factions are at odds with non law abiding factions. The only way to stay neutral to both is to not do contracts for either or do contracts until your reputations are equal. It all makes perfect sense.

Now at this point in the game I've been running a lot of military contracts with my clan. In the long run I want to end up becoming a full blown rebel hated by law abiding factions and law abiding clans alike.

My three questions are:

1. How can I find rebel contractors? I've been to several warzones and I've never seen one that I can land on. Is there a 'easy' or recommended zone to start your rebel faction reputation grind?

2. Are there rebel military contracts? If not does this mean that I should get the best military frame available before beginning my rebel faction grind?

3. Also are there any dire consequences to becoming a full blown rebel that I should be aware of other than the Navy factions becoming hostile?

1. In Warzones there are no rebel contracts! Warzones are military based contracts by the Navy! To do Rebel contracts go to any non warzone system and you should find rebel and guild contracts at any station/city....

2. Rebels do not have a military, they are Rebels, rebelling against the law and order of the military!....:P
Yes, you will be a formidable rebel flying the best equiped military ship if you know how to handle them wisely!...:P

3. Yes your reputation will drop, you will have to pay docking fees in hostile systems, but you will get the most combat practice ever!.....;):P

Ok, so next step is to get the max frame then it's time to start causing trouble. This should go without saying but I'm asking to be positive: I can go full rebel 100% and still get and complete IMG contracts right? The same goes for custom missions since they're considered similar to IMG.

 IIRC, at least one Quest for Peace contract is a Guild contract in a war zone. If so, then it's possible to do what you're asking.

EN4CER, there is somewhat related talk on this in my thread about my "Rating Issue." Might want to read some of that too.

While I'm not looking forward to drowning my rep in the early game, after I've done more things I'll consider seeing how fun going Rebel/Guild is.

 You could, instead, clone your current profile and use it as your rebel.

Indeed, but a bit more Rating/Rank/etc. would be nice before I do so.

I'm having zero problems playing full rebel reputation wise. I only do rebel/guild missions, trade in rebel sectors, and I kill a ton of Navy fighters. Once you make a few million and you have equipment I don't think it's very different than using law abiding reps.

I did save my profile but I won't go that route. Too much work put into my pilot. Instead I'll cap my rebel rep and then afterwards I'll clone my profile and grind the law abiding factions. This has the immediate benefit of allowing me to switch to a TGS tagged Rebel profile at will .
