I downloaded the demo from here to see if it was something I might be interested in. I only had about 10 minutes to try it before the Steam sale ended, and I was liking what I saw so far. I figured at the Steam sale price it wouldn't sting too bad if it turned out not to be something I like, so I went ahead and bought it.
When right clicking on the title in Steam, it has the option to "View game CD key." Since I have already downloaded and installed the demo from here, I was wondering if I could unlock the demo with the Steam CD key instead of re-downloading it through Steam. In the demo it asks for a Reference ID and a Key, but steam only gives a key (it lists it as a product code).
Can I use the Steam "CD Key" to unlock stand alone demo?

If you launch the game in Steam, then you can download and play the direct version as well. You shouldn't need to enter the ID and key in such an instance, but if you want to manuall register it, the shorter value is the reference ID and the longer value is the key.

I find it's best to use the method of "highlight each" then "control C" to copy each one and the "control V" to paste each one in it's proper location. I seem to always make a mistake when I try to type them (lol).

Ahh, I didn't notice it was two separate values separated by a semicolon. I was mainly just trying to avoid having to re-download the game, so I started the Steam install, paused it and closed Steam. Then I copied the files from other Evochron Mercenary directory into Steam's Evochron Mercenary directory, and when I restarted Steam and the install resumed it only downloaded a few MB. I verified the game cache, and it downloaded a few more MB. Everything is good now, and it's nice to know I can use the stand alone version should something happen to Steam.
