New Evo Pilot - Some Questions
Hey guys I am back again,
I decided to purchase Evochron Mercenary, checked out some of the tutorial articles etc. I have been experiencing some interesting situations, such as using boosters going in and out of planet atmospheres. Lol. Boom. Anyway, I chose to go with the Mining Class and have been taking the miscellaneous quests from the main Sapphire station. I have a couple of questions:
1) I note that some of the missions repeat and I am wondering where I get better ones or where I can have some fun? (i keep hearing about I.M.G.'s and read the tutorial on it)
2) Joined multiplayer but was not able to take any missions.
3) When I get distress calls do I have to manually map the cords to go there? and how do I find the information when the message leaves the screen?
4) Just overall what would you suggest I do as a new mining pilot with limited cargo space. (so far I figure I can only carry 3 sets of 25 minerals in my cargo.)
If any of you can give me some hot tips or point me in the right direction of a guide for these questions it would be most appreciated.
Thanks,
-Hatesauce

Check your Nav Map (default F1), right side, for the systems global reputation. If it's "Good" (green), you'll only get non-combat contracts. Your best bet is to find a system where the reputation is "Fair" (orange) ... you'll get both combat and non-combat contracts. And combat is the easiest. From post: 141187, Topic: tid=9597, author=Hatesauce wrote:1) I note that some of the missions repeat and I am wondering where I get better ones or where I can have some fun? No idea there. I'd suggest you try again and ask anyone else on the server for help.2) Joined multiplayer but was not able to take any missions.
Use the arrows on the right side of Chat to scroll old messages back into view. For distress calls, you first must find the proper sector ... which could be many star systems away. Once you're in the correct gated area, use the Destination windows in the Nav Map to set a Nav point ... then use autopilot.3) When I get distress calls do I have to manually map the cords to go there? and how do I find the information when the message leaves the screen?

New Evo Pilot - Some Questions
1. Missions do repeat, so get used to that, but the further you travel from Sapphire, the more challenging they get, and the more variations there are. I.M.G is the main quest (which I myself haven't touched). You can check your last quest objective from your news console where it says "last quest information" or something like that.
2. Don't know why you can't take any missions. You'll have to be more specific. As long as you are at a station you can accept contracts.
3. You do have to manually enter the coordinates for distress calls. There are two types of distress calls. The first is where you have to deliver emergency supplies to a planet. This is difficult because you need to both track down the needed supplies AND go land on the planet where they are needed. For that I wouldn't worry about the coordinates, just start by getting familiar with the systems and what planets are in them, because then you'll be able go straight there without mucking about with coordinates. The second type is a rescue mission. Here a NPC pilot is located at very specific coordinates near a planet. So first you have to find the planet in question, and then manually type in the coordinates because when they say "near a planet" they mean it's in the middle of open space and that's the closest thing it's near to. Make sure you have good fuel before taking rescue missions on, else you'll find yourself stranded too.
4. As a mining pilot, the best thing to do is find an asteroid field and just sit around withing 150m from an asteroid with the mining beam active. Platinum and Diamond are usually the things that sell the most, but are also pretty easy to get a hold of. I know Sapphire has a pretty safe asteroid field to mine in. And then obviously go on a bit of a trek and find a good place to sell (once again the further from Sapphire, the higher the value).
-All in all, my biggest advice is learn safe navigation, remember the top/rear views of maps, and don't jump close to planets.
-Keep below 1500mps when entering a planet's atmosphere.
-Remap your JUMP key so you don't accidentally crash trying to open up a menu.
-Keep an eye on fuel and don't go off the beaten path until you have a better ship with better jump engines and more fuel capacity.
-Don't do combat missions alone.
-If you right click on a station or jump gate, it sets it as your exact destination, but remember to set pitch to 0, and if it's a gate, set heading to 0' or 180', (if it's a carrier ship, set heading to 180' only).
-Set your particle cannon to one button and beam weapon to another; particle does hull damage but eats up energy, and beam does shield damage and takes up almost none. It's just better to have them separate (mouse button 1 and 2, respectively, for me).
-Switch to Inertial when parked at a station, because it cuts the engine without having to reduce the set throttle. Also a good idea to switch to Inertial whenever you want to conserve fuel in general.
Hope that helps, those are all things that I had to learn the hard way, but make things a lot easier now.
See you in space!

New Evo Pilot - Some Questions
You guys are awesome I will definitely be using these general tips when I play next. (remaping the jump key I think is a must) Also with using autopilot with the nav destination - I kept using launch ahha thanks Marvin for pointing this out.
and for this:
If you right click on a station or jump gate, it sets it as your exact destination, but remember to set pitch to 0, and if it's a gate, set heading to 0' or 180', (if it's a carrier ship, set heading to 180' only).
Setting the pitch to 0, does this mean you will approach it dead on into the docking bay?
Also I think the biggest thing for me now is actually learning how to properly use the nav map and fly to various regions without blowing up when I warp. It's happened several times to me.
And figuring out how to trade im sure its the icon or some mapped key...so much to learn but fun.
Thanks again!

To trade with stations you just buy at one location and sell at another (after you check prices at both) and yes leveling your ship "0" is the best way to be headed into a docking bay so it's straight ahead when coming out of a jump.

Hi Hatesauce, I don't think anyone answered your question number 2. I believe (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that you can't accept a contract if another online player is in the middle of a contract in the same sector. So when you entered MP you may have by chance entered as another player was doing a contract. If so you can simply jump to another sector to take a contract or join up with the other players and help them.

Totally see this now. I got some message saying I wasn't able to accept it or something. Makes sense. Thanks! From post: 141243, Topic: tid=9597, author=MCCON wrote:Hi Hatesauce, I don't think anyone answered your question number 2.
