My Avast updated to 7.0.1456 (which was suppose to fix a bunch of errors) and now I get errors 506 & 7018 unless I disable Avast. It is intermittent at times but thought I'd put this out. I had made the error of running the new Microsoft Security Essentials (free) at the same time as Avast but that proved to be a problem (lol) in itself.
As an added thought, I have an HP and "CLMLsvc.exe" was running. This has not given me a problem in the past but I just got a 506 with Avast disabled so am going to stop the CLMLsvc and continue testing. These intermittent problems are a royal pain.

It may not be Avast, although if it is, just report it to them via their support e-mail contact. CLMLsvc would be the more likely cause, intermittent or consistent.

Thanks Vice. I will watch and see how it goes. Do I have to stop this process each time I start the computer? I ask as I don't normally mess with processes/services.

It should be a program you can uninstall (Cyberlink Media Library Service) as part of the HP media suite, if it's something you don't use anyway, which is seems most HP users never do.
I visited the Avast support forum this morning and it seems their new 7.0.1456 update has a lot of issues/problems, even with just basic system functionality. They fixed some of the blue screen crashes, memory leaks, and system functionality issues, but it seems to have introduced a number of new problems. So it wouldn't surprise me if Avast has some issues also, but I would focus on the CLMLSVC task first. I personally haven't updated to the series 7 of Avast yet anyway due to the problems they've been having. I'm still running an older program version and just staying current with definition updates.
