Not jumping to where I wanted

Post by Agent Zirdik »

Hey so I have been messing around on the Demo until I can buy the full version and I have been running into an issue. I set a waypoint via the navmap, but occasionally when I hit "launch" from the navmap, I jump to some random coordinate nowhere near where I wanted to go. I am wondering if there is some series of keys I'm pressing that might cause this; here's what I press:

1. Alt + click on nav button at top of screen
2. click on map where I want to go (yellow marker appears)
3. Hit enter
4. Click "Launch" from navmap display

Any chance there is a combination in there that might be causing this?

Try using just the F2 key to jump. ONLY the F2 key as alt+f2 jumps you to the maximum distance in the direction your ship is aimed.:)

 Step 2 ... make sure you left-click on the map when it's in Rear View. Else you might be setting (or forgetting to set) the Y coordinate. Otherwise, your Y coordinate will remain the same as your current altitude ... which is not where you want to be if your target is one or more sectors above or below you.

Also, depending on your class of jumpdrive you might not be able to jump the amount of sectors you want!.....Class 1, max jump = 1 sector. Class 2, max jump = 2 sectors....Class 5, max jump = 5 sectors. Class Mantis Jumpdrive(Experimental jump drive) max jump = 10 sectors!......;)

Cool, thanks everyone. I think it may have been the alt + f2 thing, because I have to hold that down a lot to get into menus
