Path to Andromeda (limitation at stations?)

Post by Letoras »

Hello there fellow space pilots.
Yesterday after having a bad 1st attempt to go from cerulean to Andromeda by foot ( thanks saberuneko for making an extreme effort to save my sorry metal @ss) i started my 2nd attempt.
Now i am at 2400, 0, 20990 and my problem is that i cannot build a station......

to give you a short story i started at cerulean b straight with the auto on 2400.0.28000 until i build 10 stations.

Andromeda mission
Andromeda m.2
Andromeda m.3
...........
Andromeda m.10

then i turned to 2000.0.28000 for one more station (m.11)

each station is 34 minutes of jumping with a mantis.

my fuel tank is 1599 so everytime i had an alert of low fuel i was building a station.

Now i cannot built station out here at 20990, is there something am i doing wrong?

thank you.

Hi Letoras.

I'm not sure about this, but I don't think you can build in Andromeda.
You are probably already in the Andromeda system. You'll need to deploy a Fuel Processor or get
your hands on a Fuel Converter and get some stuff in from a Nebula or star.

Nice journey btw. Good luck!

update.

so our last station is at 2400.0.19620

from there we continue our journey with the help of fuel processor,
first one built at 2400.0.20990

filling up and continue deeper into andromeda.

just found out that fuel processors are beinf destoyed when leaving, so if somebody follow the path make sure you have deploy equipment from that point to go further more.

I know those and I'm almost feeling bad for taking away all the mysticism about it, but that's more likely a bug than some space-anomaly or a ghost or something. You'll recognize that as soon as you cycle through the hud-modes it will disappear until you reactivate the "full" hud. ;)

It's Gorf's ghost!

He disappeared when he reached sector 99999 and was never seen again!

Nice going Leto!

It's not Gorf's Ghost, rilly trilly. From personal experience, he wouldn't fly such a monstrosity, even though most of his "taste", per se, re: what he consumes. ;)

P.S.: Andromeda is now not much more than a trap for touristas. The scenery is incomparable to other offerings in "known" space. In Legends, it was part of the main story line, and there were some other "features" available, in accord with that story-line. In Mercs, it's been shut down as pretty much excess-to-needs. Last I checked, the 4-lobe transport device was still there and employable/utile. Check the various rock piles for its location, while there. It'll show up on tgt radar as the "standard" pink/salmon/rose splotch. Used to be a pretty "short trip" to Andromeda, using known-space, rift-space, Von-space, then the Andy loop holes. ;)
Good luck and God-speed with your trudge, Let.

Path to Andromeda (limitation at stations?)

Congratulations, Letoras. I imagine that took a long time to get there. I would simply not have the patience.

Still, I would have to wonder why you didn't go with a larger fuel tank if you were just going to go the distance. Take a Starmaster or something, drop the cargo bays and other resource-using stuff (level 1 engines and wings). You could get a much bigger fuel tank. Sure: you'd be flying a space-Winnebago, but then, that's what Winnebagos are for, right?

Andromeda: unfortunately is a sort of ghost town. I built a station there once, long ago, before building stations was prohibited. It was fine, until I left the sector and came back, at which point it was swarming with reds. Apparently, there are hostiles floating around in space, waiting for someone to build a station.

I kept searching Andromeda for a while, though, and aside from a hidden planet (with a ring system and a station-like thingy there) there wasn't much else to see. Long ago, there was a ship wreckage (from Legends) too. I guess someone manage to land, salvage it, and pilot the junk away. They might have left a crate or two.

You already know about the shortcut back. Note that I think there is also a wormhole that you can take back too. Long ago, it would let out by Secret Pearl. I don't know where it lets out now. Wormholes are so darn unpredictable.

The purpose of making the hourney with a 1599 fuel tank is to provide a path for more pilots, having a large fuel tank would make the distances between the stations very large so smaller ships could never get from one station to another.

My next objective is to find the nearest coords (to Andromeda) to built a station for all explorers to have.

The place is full of reds that is true. After exploring around and making the last station i am planning on going vonari by foot (well, i have no idea how far or were they are yet..)

I think making paths for places far away is an interesting thing to do (while working next to another machine).

I have seen the wormhole although i don't know if i can pass it with safety yet......

I wonder where are the boarders of Andromeda-cannot-build-station-here....around 20.000 z i think....
