I think it would be nice to see the space stations rotate, or at least the wheel-shaped stations. Maybe there's a different sci-fi way to generate gravity on the others. Some blinking lights on the stations would be nice too.

I know that sounds lame, but I just think it would help make the stations look less static and help them appear like they're populated by thousands of people.

They jump in and join the fun without knowing any rules. That is a fact.

To have any kind of warlike system working, it has to be coded into the game.

That's my 2 cents. We have all seen this tried and failed several times already.
I'm not a pessimisit, just stating my experiences.
SeeJay happens to be the leader of a clan I've joined (while Arthur leads the clan I would never join perhaps, eek) but objectively: I very much agree.
We are trying to have a perfect game here, and I do welcome solutions which can be done within modding tools. But this threads subject says something about features we would love to get gifted from the game creator himself. And this very modification of the gameplay would probably really have to come from there.
Being "hardcoded", you don't deal with forcing of following some written rules. The rules are built within the game, and cannot be avoided. Know and accept them - win. Break them - and all the funny things happen to you.

Agree. also needs some retexturing for this also, as it is now you have the feeling that the station is small.

There is a bit of role-play with the game when it comes to the clans.
Sometimes I think most of the role-play is played out on the forums more than actually in the game too.

From post: 138813, Topic: tid=9376, author=Marvin wrote::cool: I guess you'd need to test it ... with a profile neither pro-Navy nor pro-Rebel. Then try it both ways and see what happens.
Turns out I don't have a neutral profile. So I started with one which was highly pro-Navy (etc.) ... and began testing in an abandoned system near Emerald. Oddly enough, the location has a "Fair" global reputation in MP but a "Good" global reputation in SP.

The "bad guy" contracts are quite limited in a Fair system: the Rebels offer a spy contract and the Guild offers a couple contracts for transporting stuff. Both contracts work ... but (note to self) do not blow up the capital ship after spying on it. For some odd reason, if you do blow it up, your reputation with the good guys goes up and your reputation with the bad guys drops back down (mine went all the way to zero).

More testing to follow ....

In my opinion this game would be epic if the the following options are being enabled with the new mega update.

1) You can build you own colonies on planets. (multiplayer only function) (to give the game more challenge. Cause to be honost PvP is starting to bore the crap out of myself)
2) Build your own defence systems at the planets to prevend the loss of the planet. ( Wich can include: Defence ships, Anti Air guns, a shield for the city, ground units etc etc.)
3) The planets can be attacked by human players.
4) Some more depth in the ship and weapon building system( like crafting, adjusting etc etc.)
5) A research panel for planetary, space, ship and weapon research ( wich can be conducted when enough resources are available)
6) The resources can be gathered from astroïds, colonized planets or dwarf planets.
7) Land vehicles to build colonies and to gather resources from planets.
8) And remove the option to build stations and other stuff in space. ( so you only have the standard game implanted space stations )
9) To rule a solar system you or your clan must control all the planets within it.

These options will make the game more interesting, realistic and more challanging for players. In my opnion.
The pvp will be more exciting since there is more at stake besides your ship and the people
will play more like teams to get what they want.

yeah but instead of building thos ethings in space you build stuff on the planet surface.
That way you also spend more time on a planet exploring it and enjoy the planets attributes.

And that way the universe will be somewhat cleaner.
Every universe is build full of stations and the funny thing
they arent being used at all.

Its a bullshit thing:P

hehe true you got a point there!
But how about the bandwith of the servers haha. the servers are already pretty small. So i think if you want it all you will need a uber fast internet connection to even host a game. And i think most of the server owners dont have that kinda internet connection.
So thats a big issue..

In my mind there could be dedicated task/functions/capacity to each kind of structures, planetary ones, spatial ones.

But that's right that we have to think about practical and tech side to...

Is evochron mercenary made to be deployable on dedicated gaming servers ?

To be honost i dont know.
Im only a player i dont know the dev personally.
But i think its possible to do that. But you need to ask
Vice for the precise info about it.

One thing that I couldn't ask of the Dev, but would like to see in a space sim sometime is a crew made up of players. One player could be a pilot, another a gunner, another an engineer, another a navigator, etc. And you could wander around inside the ship in realtime. Obviously you could hire NPC crew in case you didn't have enough players to fill all your positions.
Agent Zirdik, out.

 Well, every mercenary pilot can get himself a turret gunner when playing MP. Even when flying a military ship.

i though the same sometimes :)

but must find things to do for each, if not they get maybe quickly bored

pilot must be a fine pilot, nav guy really good at space navigation, gunner.. is busy only during fight... hum

what about that :

players log into a lobby where different ship frame are available, some needs one other 2 and so on.. crew member, players decide to use this or that ship then enter the game in which missions or contracts are linked to the kind of ship/crew they use

lonely ace fighter wouldn't get same jobs as 4 crew member attack corvet for exemple, but they could all play in same game (maybe not same team...eheh)

must be hard to code/set up :(

but i can imagine some 10 crew member Capital ship, all havin to deal with real time data to keep the ship flyin' straight, lol, inside a fleet of 12540 ship all populated by real players, from X-wing fighters-like to artificial planets, all connected by autocom, inside a space time continuum 1589 time larger than EM
:), more people, more space, more mysteries, more fun

What I'd REALLY LIKE TO SEE IN THE GAME, Perhaps with the EXPANSION, is Changing the "SET" Readout on the HUD to show the SPEED of the SHIP YOU HAVE TARGETED. Name It: TSV: Target Ship Velocity. It Would Be Of MUCH GREATER USE than the Current "SET" Readout, especially in PvP.

:o I always thought the target's velocity readout was its speed. It's what I use to maintain position when escorting a capital ship ... and it seems to work.

It was inevitable that my rl gravy train would run out and I'd return to virtual paradise.

Nice to see you too Marv. :)

edit because I can't spell when in double-vision holiday mode.
