Couple of OOG questions and one IG from a week old pilot

Post by zachariah1688 »

Hey all,
Just started the game after wanting more from Kerbal Space Program, and I must say that I love it and did not know that I was a sadist thanks to this learning curve.
My questions are below:
1. How the devil do I take and then find a screenshot? Prt Scrn is not working for me for some reason, and I cannot find the binding in the config for the life of me.

2. In relation to the screenshot; is there a server that wouldn't mind a fledgling youtuber to make a series on? I have tried out the game on SP and loved it and from what I can read on the Forums. MP is just that much better and I was thinking of doing a quasi-RP series.

3. What would be a good sector to get some combat practice at? I was doing the IMG line in SP and was overwhelmed by the protect mission. Had to fire my crew and restructure a new frame to my vessel before I could get a handle on the 27 hostiles it threw at me.

Thanks for your time and keep up the fight.

Hi and welcome!

1: I use Gadwin (free) to make screenshots. You can configure any button to take the shot. prt Screen is default.
Get it here: http://www.gadwin.com/printscreen/

2: I don't think any server object to making some movies. It has been done several times.

3: Olympus (East of Sapphire) is a good "easy" start for combat. Normally max 4 reds!
For "real" combat missions that will increase your MIL rank, try Talison Warzone. That's the
easiest of the 4 WarZones.

You can do all IMG contracts in MP except the Race contract. There all other players can join in and help out!

Hope to see you out there. I'm normally on Galactica 1!

1. No built in screenshot function. You need to use a 3rd party utility. Gadwin is good. I use it.
2. Most servers don't object to youtubers making movies on their server, but just to make it official, you are hereby authorized by the ADMIN of Starport 6 to make any movies you like on Starport 6. I'm sure the others wouldn't mind, but now you don't have to wonder at all concerning Starport 6:D
3. I'd recommend going with what Seejay said for finding combat.

:o I wouldn't use Olympus for doing contracts. True, the system Rep is Fair ... but it's probably the least likely place to get good intelligence. In other words, while Intel will tell you to expect maybe four Rebels, your best bet is to triple or quadruple that number. Granted, you're only contracted to kill the first four (usually) ... but those reinforcements can make for a bad day in Olympus.

Thank you all for the advice. This will help a lot! The fast response time to my question has been amazing! (Just logged int today to shoot the breeze but saw the responses lol) I will be logging in to a server in the coming weeks; again thank you all so much for the help! And Marvin yeah it was in Olympus that they told me to expect 4 and I got swamped with 27 over the course of the contract.

Keep up the good fight :)

 Instead of Oly, you might try either Lambda (easy access from Sapphire ... no hostile systems en route) or Pices.

The hard-wired station in Talison, that is 90 degrees from the Cerulean jump-gate, is a good station for civilian combat contracts. Ace-kills are 4, and you may get 5 or 6. Tops. Anti-pirate patrols/Miners' missions are 4; you may get 5. Talison Prime is a Fair system. Mid-range credit scale for the location, C-4 commodiousness and stuff. ;) Mirage may be a bit lite, depending on skill-set, Sentinel's better. Guardian and up - real bonus! With Cerulean next door, you can do the AM/FC/C-bill shuffle! Oly Primus can be worked best if you make the miners your "special" friends. Followed closely with the beans-n-bullets crowd. Work the percentages to your monetary benefit and experience levels. Good luck and have much fun! :)

Get a mantis and some building tools and cross from Saphire to Atlas Minor, nice travel, some fights, lots of jump, and some undiscovered worlds :)
