It was good fighting ya all.

You are all improving and are keeping me very busy!;)
Sorry I couldn't stay for long!

Those fights are great when all attacks all. Really keeps you on your toes!

I'm happy we don't fight for clan leadership. I wouldn't be the leader for long LOL!:P

Topped off all systems last night!

Galactica was down last night, so I did some SP. I explored the Wolf Zone for a bit, and then tried to land on Wolf itself. After a few attempts that were more explody-fiery bitsy than I usually prefer, I finally managed to land in the city by approaching it from directly above, and entered the city itself. I tried to repair myself (after being quite disappointed at the meager offerings the city provided) and take back off, but exploded immediately upon takeoff. Whatever.

I explored the asteroid cave...and found a lot of nothing. Maybe I missed something. Dunno. I did find some claustrophobia, actually. Snarf.

one of the downsides of this game: lots to explore, nothing to find.
you have to create your own goals really.

If you would like some hints (or spoilers) I can U2U with locations of caves with (variously) a wreck, a jump gate, an embedded station (entrance on inside, bottom bit sticking outside), various containers of goodies, alien "power" technology . . . a cave that just entering is a real challenge.

It took me a while to work out how to shimmy through the tight squeezes in asteroid caves - some stuff can only be found by going through gaps that appear to be too narrow to get a ship through.

Personally, the "create your own goals" is one of the really attractive aspects of the game giving me freedom rather than following someone else's predetermined storyline - but each to his/her own.

I've seen wrecks orbiting planets, on planet surfaces, floating in nebulae. I've seen (screenshots of) asteroids floating just above oceans like in Avatar. I've seen ghost ships and ghost planets in deep space

I'm beginning to sound like the cloned character in "Bladerunner"! :P

Sometimes, when you are exploring, if you don't find anything it doesn't mean that there isn't something to find - just that you haven't found it yet;

at the end of the day I have to agree with -splosives-

It's a game where you have to set your own goals.
Hmmm,.. i was thinking i could say more but I think it hits the nail on the head,.. it's a sandbox. make the best out of it for you

Been there - done that - floating in space with no fuel - very peaceful looking at nebulae (if you are pointing at one when you run out) until you die or boredom or suicide! :P :P :P :P

Then I discovered that . . .

pilots will bring you fuel in MP
You can deploy a fuel processor to refuel (though slowly)
You can build a trade station and refuel instantly

I love this game :D

My presence will be even more erratic than it has been for the last few weeks. My father-in-law (though actually a second dad to me) is fading quite rapidly.

Valerie and I have been visiting them (a couple of hundred miles away) at increasingly frequent intervals. John (who is 88 and actually well past his expected sell by date!) is now in hospital and there are some major doubts about whether he will be able to leave. Valerie's mum (my second mum) is his chief carer (she is 85!) and we are supporting her as much as we are supporting John.

Everything is quite fluid so we are not making plans at present other than for visiting.

The positive side is that John has, until now and though quite ill, had a great "quality of life", stick-making, woodcarving, enjoying good company, food and drink and very appreciative of what people are doing for him. Both are very positive people - both are realistic though.

I will pop up on the forum (and MP) as and when I can because it is a great way to chill - as many of you will know from experience, being strong for others is the hard part when you feel angry and frustrated that you can't do anything to directly take away their physical and emotional pain and their worries.

That is life, though.

:)
Take care of your family mate.

I hope all is going as well as it can and I hope for the best.
We await your return and our thoughts are with you.
You know where to find us whenever you need us.

Send My best to your wife as well.

Nope. we are still here. We just killed the rest!

Many players joined after steam release, but few stayed on MP.

The humble bunch are still active (on G1) and rule as ever :P

I've been absent for a couple of days, RL demanding my attention, but I'm generally on after work 5:00 - 9:00pm EST. Usually on G1. I want to try and make some more of the jousts that occur on SP6 @ 8:00pm EST, join us there Mecingo.

Hello Bumblebees!

I have evolved in game to the point where I am looking for some team to join. Since my very 1st visit of this forum I am watching HB members and their major influence at this Universe. However, in my search for the clan I would love to call my home, I've also checked other clans around (including Vonari, lol).
Now it seems I am back here, kindly asking you to consider me becoming the Humble Bumblebee member. I will happily die for you guys! :D

Hello RAYfighter. I'm sure as soon as SeeJay sees this he won't have any problem honoring your request. I had never heard of DarkStar One until I saw your signature, I tried it out and it's not half bad. It sort of reminds me of Tachyon: The Fringe (one of the most underrated games in the history of PC space sims)

Seriously, Tachyon was/is an awesome game, it deserves more love than it gets. It actually has decent voice acting (Bruce Campbell!!!) and was a ton of fun. You even get to take back the roof of the Sistine Chapel!

I think I'm going to go stat a Tachyon: The Fringe fan club...

I have never been lucky enough to find Tachyon, but now when you mentioned it I found this:
YouTube - Tachyon: The Fringe gameplay video
You must be right about underrating, uploader of the video stated it at the end - only 2 youtube videos from this cool game!
+ awesome game engine cut scenes
+ architecture of stations and bases
+ design of the hangar (starwars imperials woot)
+ design of the ship
+ hyperspace jump design (great camera!)
+ combat feel! oldskool starwars "lasers", awesome missiles trails
- cut scenes have no place in games like Evochron
- totally repetetive hyperspace jump even from this short video
- childish oldskool starwars "lasers"
- erratic movement of the ship in game (EM Newtonian physics FTW!!)

DarkStar One was great in its days, I wouldn't recommend it today. Plus it is linear story driven game, I don't feel like going thru the same story again...
