For me, I ain't worried about the penalty. The most they could do is ban me from the forum. It's the honor of the thing for me. I work danged hard to find the secret, I'm not just going to give it out.

I'm close and have been for a couple of years according to these criteria - problem is I'm not getting closerFrom post: 137300, Topic: tid=9351, author=Knight Rider wrote:I will share this secret maybe this will help, if you're close.
1) If you become the earthling’s nightly fireball entertainment, you're close.
2) If you find yourself cursing & swearing at each attempt, you're close.
3) If you start hallucinating of all the riches to be had, you're close.
If you experience any of the above, don't give up, you're close.:P:P:P
I mean - come on guys - "I'm happy with my V.I.C.E. crew" is supposed to be a "clue"
The successful ones are just pulling our strings (and why not? - they've done it!)
Has anyone, other than Maars, got the magic "go anywhere instantly" crystals I wonder?

I remember being in secret talks with Vice to include a special device only native to Earth, a device with special abilities. He agreed to take it under consideration, Since I haven't made it yet, I can't confirm it. And the only reason I'm revealing it now is because it's been over a year since we discussed it.From post: 137315, Topic: tid=9351, author=DaveK wrote:I'm close and have been for a couple of years according to these criteria - problem is I'm not getting closerFrom post: 137300, Topic: tid=9351, author=Knight Rider wrote:I will share this secret maybe this will help, if you're close.

Okay so the only way I can interpret "V.I.C.E. crew"
is the only way it makes sense... and it doesn't work, tried it.

Well I know I said no before... but this will really be the last comment on the landing
One of my theories was to spell out VICE with a crew and be able to land safely. This however was not the solution, but after all of the trouble to collect this unique crew, I kept them on board, even when I landed.
So a shout out to my fearless skill and loyal crew... who blew up countless times with me without hesitation

Wow...I have been a way a bit, so the B.I.G. clue is V.I.C.E. ? It could be coded coordinates? From post: 137332, Topic: tid=9351, author=Austin wrote:Well I know I said no before... but this will really be the last comment on the landing

My week has been going so well
and awesome, all around... I'll also say this
Despite my posted and unposted
theories about nanites... they have absolutly nothing to do with landing.
They also, however, are another puzzle for another day

But really no more ...
Good Luck to All!

Maybe one interpretation of that clue could be that we need the help of Vice himself to be able to land.
Honestly, sometimes I think no clue at all is better than the ones we have so far. lol
"out of the box" ... "Crew member/s V.I.C.E"

My science officer keeps telling me that there may be valuable items on a nearby planet. That planet is, of course, Earth. I tried getting a navigation and science officer both with 99 skill to jump around Earth, no luck. Fire and debris. I would like to know two things that probably won't get answered:
1) does your rank have anything to do with it. This is important, because if it does then everything I try is a waste of time unless I'm at a certain rank. That would be annoying.
and
2) does it involve modifying the game code at all. This is the MOST important. I really don't think it does, but nobody will flat out deny it. I know somebody did cheat and land on Earth (and yes, IMO, that would be cheating) and I seriously doubt that's how Austin and Maars did it, but how about please just say it's so for mine (and capt chronic's) peace of mind? Say "No Twilly Frost, you annoying idgit, we did not change the game code in any way to achieve the Earth landing" and I will be satisfied.
I posted a picture in the screenshots thread of me shooting penguins on the South Pole. More penguins will die if my questions are not answered! I'm going to the mountains, you have three days to answer me, or no more Happy Feet! I mean it!!!

I don't think rank has anything to do with it but can't say for sure as I have not landed there as of yet.

No. No server mod would be required. He said he did it in SP. SP does mean single player doesn't it? Therefore no server connection. From post: 137361, Topic: tid=9351, author=capt_cronic wrote:noooo dont do it lol

Not all in error Janus, he said he landed in SP. But then he returned to the station and repeated the landing in MP so he could have witnesses.

On question number 2. No it does not involve code change relatively speaking. That is if you consider when you are modding or using modded ships, huds, and Nebulae, background stars....etc as not changing code. I do not want to see more pequins die, who modded those pequins anyway?....Oh they are AIs....OK, they can die!.....I retract my answer.....From post: 137352, Topic: tid=9351, author=Twilly Frost wrote:My science officer keeps telling me that there may be valuable items on a nearby planet. how about crew from systems starting with v.i.c.e
ex: virgo, ioto, cerulean, emerald
also when he landed in multiplayer, the security ring WAS visible to all present.

That almost sounds like it does actually require some kind of modding. From post: 137395, Topic: tid=9351, author=Maarschalk wrote: ... That is if you consider when you are modding or using modded ships, huds, and Nebulae, background stars....etc as not changing code....
Some file maybe, like the hud mod or setfont mod.
