Keeping crew when getting a military frame

Post by kapakio »

Is there a way to keep them on the civilian ship? I've found that when you store your frame in a hangar, it's not really storing anything but the configuration of the ship, not the actual ship, unless I'm missing something.

Is there a way to keep the crew members if you switch to a military ship? I would hate to loose them after skills are topped at 100

Well, i would be willing to pay them a vacation in Atlas if they want as long as they come back to work when finished. But loose them forever just because I wanted to try the military life for a while is sad.

I agree with you. The best way as of now is to save some of your 99 pilot slots as Military. You end up with different levels of Money but can at least fly both types of ships.:)

 And different levels of Rank and Reputation. Also, if you build a station as one, you won't have the station license as the other.

You would be surprised how quickly you can get 3 new crew members up to 100%. What I do is have saves 1-10 for military and 11-20 for civilian, I also have a few for PVP.

Why ten each? As I play I save to a different spot so I always have another saved game from not long ago. This way if I have an issue I can go back, in case I do something I regret, or somehow get a game saved in a dead end situation (saved right before I die for example).

My pilot name is Count then a letter, I add a * for the civilian saves. I just go through in alphabetical order and repeat when done for each save type. Count A then Count B and so on.

I've never had a crew - but until I retired (yep . . . I'm an oldie! :D ) I lead a large department in RL so I can sympathise with people who don't want to treat their crew as commodities. If you don't give loyalty you can't expect it in return - a problem in RL in the capitalist countries today. After all the game is supposed to be a fun alternative to RL.

It would be good if we could pay a "retainer" for our crews - like we can store second and third frames in hangars - so that wene we return form a spell in our military career, we can call our crew back to join us without having to be schizophrenic and maintain multiple personalities.

I don't know enough about Dark Basic coding and programming to know if this is a realistic option but it seems that a lot of people would like to keep their crews over an extended period of time :)

 If your crew stayed with the ship while you went off to work for the military, there should also be the possibility where your crew takes your ship for a joyride ... maybe for a road trip out to Andromeda. While the cat's away (so they say) ....

Been thru several rotations of crew/no crew, civ vs mil frame applications and appendages. Having a crew aboard means the most of three considerations. 1 - That you'll pay them their worth. 2- That you'll work them, so that you'll increase their woth to you. And 3 - That you'll take the time and do the contracts/missions, in order to "culture" your crew's loyalty. The "kind" of missions you take and complete, will pretty much determine crew loyalty and efficiency. 100% across the board for each and all, and ye'll not be considered a "bleedin' officer". :P

BTW, yes you can fight a civ frame w/ crew. Jist mind yer P's & Q's on yer frame. ;)

 In fact, a crew comes in mighty handy when doing combat in a civilian frame. ;)
