One of My Side Projects - M1911A1

Post by Sasha »

I always have lots of things going on. From restoring classic Vespas to building concrete skate/bmx ramps. Today's feature is my Mil-Spec M1911A1 .45. It was made in Turkey from Norinco machined parts, so I picked it up at a great price. My mods are fairly light and as follows: lightweight trigger job with 2mm of travel (almost a hair-trigger), lightweight recoil spring, hand-machined muzzle brake, Wilson Combat beaver-tail grip safety, Wilson Combat lightweight "skeletonized" hammer, and Chip McCormick 10-round power magazines. It shoots like a champ. I currently have a set of narrow tenon Trijicon Tritium three-dot night sights, but I can't install sights with my tools and I'm having trouble finding a smith who is willing to accept the risk of breaking them to install them. xD

My next investment will be a set of laser sights and then a tactical rail-mounted light.

As a side note, I fire 230 grain hollow-points, which have more than enough knock-back power to throw a typical adult male zombie several feet. Humans typically don't survive 230 grain hollow point .45ACP rounds, regardless of where a round hits. They are popular in law enforcement for their tremendous hydrostatic shock ability.

I recommend this pistol to anyone who may need to survive the zombie apocalypse. It can be fitted with any tactical attachment, including wet and dry suppressors (but suppressors only function properly on this gun using sub-sonic ammo).

This gun ranges from $400 to $2000, depending on make and dealer. They are all basically the same though. Mil-Spec is Mil-Spec. There may only be up to a .005" difference in size between machined parts by different manufacturers so the parts are all interchangeable.

I've included a few pics for you guys. Hope you guys enjoy.

Gotta love the mighty 1911, nice to see a mil spec version, considering its rich and varied history, I used the Beretta during my army days and I would love to shoot this gun at a range. Always liked the powerful pistols. Cant afford one though with that price range lol. That's why I love pistols, easy to field strip and clean lol. Thanks for sharing Sasha!;)
