 In other words, if the distress call comes from a different sector and that sector isn't nearby, you need to use the appropriate gate(s) ... after you're in the correct star system, type the coordinates into your destination windows (don't confuse sector coordinates with in-sector coordinates) and use autopilot to finish the trip. Warning: if the distress call comes from a planet, don't try jumping directly to the city.

Ok, that makes sense. Tonight I was playing multiplayer. I was on a mission to mine some stuff, and then I wasn't sure where to bring it. I noticed a glowing blue thing near the space station in saphire, so I flew to it thinking that was where I needed to drop off my stuff. Nope, it was a jump gate and I wound up in...er...olympus I think, lol.

So, I kinda get now that you have to use the jump gates to fly to different star systems. I'm learning, lol.

Hey CybrDude! Welcome aboard! (A "glowing blue thing" ? Wow! Nice vid card! My jump gates are salmon-colored and rather dull.) On mining contracts, the station where you accepted the contract is the station to which you return your goods; of whatever ilk the contract called for. For the snoopies, especially the go-findums and drag-ums-back, same station as well. If'n ya take ums to another station or anywhere else, you get a bolo for the contract. :( (As in contract failure; no pay off, no passing "GO", and collecting the gelt). ;)

And if you are just mining without a contract, you can sell at any station/city.

My jump-gates are pink LOL!

Btw, you don't need to use jump-gates to go anywhere, it's just faster;)
It's a totally open space and you can cruise around between system as you like. Time consuming thou!:P

New player two questions

Post by Grimmrog »

Hiho,

here some more Noob Questions.

1. Stations
1.1 If i build a Station, which faction will it belong to? Alliance?
1.2 Is it possible to change the faction ownership of a System by destroying all stations and rebuild them? If 1.1 makes it possible to build stations for different factions
1.3 is it possible to get allied with the Vonari by killing enough non vnories in their system, or are they a determined "all time enemy" (ok, im faaaar away from this, so just a theoretical question)

2. Ship: Does changing Scale on the Ship components also increase/decrease the real Ship size so that it could better slip through tight passages?

3. Multiplayer:
3.1 How is it handled, when i die in Multiplayer mode? All over?
3.2 Is there still a usable economy, if everyone is mining ressource i could imagine, prices for everything are very low.
3.3 In every Multiplayer game, there are some "funny people" that think destroying everything another made is very coooool, so whats the chance to build something, get off, and have it still build when coming back? Or better, how is the protection from such individuals that unfortunetly exists in nearly every multiplayer game.

thx for answers

Hi and welcome Grimmrog.

I'll try to answer your questions, but I stand corrected if I'm wrong on any point.
I'm sure someone will correct me!;)

1.1: No faction, it belongs to you or your clan if you name it [clan] StationName
1.2: You can only destroy player build stations, so no!
1.3: No, they are enemies to the bitter end.

2: No.

3.1: It's the same as SP. You respawn at your last save. Also everything carries over between SP-MP and MP-SP
except what you build.
3.2: The economy is pretty stable.
3.3: There is normally a very friendly bunch of people out there.
Sometimes someone thinks it's funny to destroy something but retaliation/help will arrive very fast.
Be aware that some clans requrie "permission" to build in their systems. Just ask their clan leader.
Also have agrement with other pilots/clans will help protect your property.

Hope this helps a bit, and if yo need any further help, just ask mate.

Ok, some more Questions about that Clan Thingy, and the Mining Probe.
1. Clans
1.1 I just Type anything in [] like [XYZ] and then I found or join the clan XYZ is that correct?
2.1 So anybody could technically join any clan in this way, even when the clan wouldn't have him to join?
2.2 does this clan Thing with controlling Systems also work in Single Player Mode?
2.3 Whats the benefit from controlling a Sytsem?

2. Mining Probe
2.1 How does that really works?
2.2 Where to Use it,
2.3 Where to get the Mined Stuff

What I have done yesterday: I tried to cosntruct it on an Asteroid of an Asteroid Field. This seems not to work, i always get the message, no planent moon or asteroid near, so i think it only works on Asteroid caves?

Then I headed to the next Planet, trying it there. Deploying it, created a short blue light effect in front of me, but no probe (maybe it was under the surface). After a while the game told me that it finished Minign and i should collect the ressources, but I couldn't find any, so what am i doind wrong here?

Hi Grim.

1.1 Yes, limit is 4 letters between [ ]
1.2 Yes. Anyone can just add any clan tag and make a mess (start a war).
1.3 No, only in MP
1.4 When the clan controls more than 70% by doing contracts, all online pilots in that clan get paid
every cycle (10-15min or so)
Here is some more help with clan stuff: http://www.junholt.se/evoschool/index.htm

2.1 You deploy a probe near an asteroid. It will then mine away by itself.
If I recall correct, you fly back to it and harvest what it mined and then sell it.
2.2 Asteroids, planets I think works to. rings around planets to I think.
2.3 Not sure what you mean by that, but you sell your stuff at stations/cities.

You have to be within mining range to be able to deploy it. (Very close to the object).
I used one on a normal asteroid, not a cave. Worked like a charm.
When deploying, set a navpoint in your onboard computer so you can find it.

Not really sure wht you did wrong. It might have been deployed under the surface. Nothing surprises me anymore LOL!

Join MP and an experienced pilot can tag along and help you out.

Hope this explains a bit.

Not sure if this is the issue, but:
When the deploy-marker pops up, you need to move it so the center of the marker is in the asteroid.

Hi and welcome.

I use 1st person for most things, but I have found in combat, with either AI or PvP with another player, if I use 1st person cockpit mode I get owned badly. If I press v for 3rd person, I find I have better situational awareness. Able to see which direction enemy fire is coming from, among other things.

I've played Freelancer MP and (in that game) I stink at PvP. But I seem to be able to hold my own fairly well with PvP here. Of course it's a totally different set of physics. That's an arcade game with IDS on all the time unless you turn it off (and your opponent can turn it back on with specialized weapons). This is newtonian physics, and much better IMHO.

Hope to see you out there.

Use of 1st or 3rd person view is strictly a matter of preference. There is no wrong way. Use what works best for you.;) This also applies to ship selection. If you can't work with a 'twitchy' feeling ship, go heavier. If your ship 'looks like a fish, and moves like a fish, but steers like a cow'.... go lighter!:)
