Combat with hostiles
Hi, guys!
I'm not 100% sure, does shooting at hostile ships will improve my reputation like if I shoot the hostile ships in the fair star system, would the reputation will go from fair to good and if I shoot the hostile ships in the hostile star system, would the reputation will go from hostile to fair and then to good? Thanks!
Cheers,
Cheri and Vincent

Only if you take contracts to kill the hostiles!
Randomly killing reds will not gain any reputation. (As far as I know).

You're overall Rep will not change in MP. But you can change Rep in SP. Killing ships will give you a small amount of rep with the faction that opposes the one you killed. Check your news console there should be a section that shows you who has the most presence in that system. If it's NAVY/Energy/Miners, kill Rebels/Guild. If the Rebels hold sway, then they are the masters of that system. Global reputation for a system does not change in MP. but I do believe -though I may be wrong- that faction reputation does change and killing ships does add a point here or there to the faction(s) you want to impress or tick off.

Say if you want to improve Navy rep don't shoot at a "RED/Hostile" that says navy. Not all hostiles are the same. From post: 133971, Topic: tid=9139, author=Cheri50000 wrote:Hi, guys!

H, Rubber chicken!
You are saying like if the rebels and guilds are let's say 70-75 % in the news console in the pearl star system I can kill them right? Thanks!

The graph shows what factions you have reputation with. There should be another section of the news console that tells you what the amount of presence is for each faction. If it says for example, that Aries has a high Rebel presence and a low miner presence then you're more likely to see Rebels than Miners. I'd fight for the Rebels in that system if you know what I mean. Identify what faction(s) have the highest presence in the system and fight for them if you want to see a greater chance of 'green' ships.

Anytime.
I will say though, that I'm not 100% sure the info I gave you is accurate. If I remember the Evochron Legends Strategy Guide correctly then what I said is right.

Yo Vinny! R-C (Vale, Legionnaire!) has the right of it. As well as TBird and SeeJay. All really excellent advice from some well experienced pilots. Taking on "the Reds" in Pearl is rather audacious, but do-able. Some would opine certain classes of ship frames and wpns/shld load-outs. I'll not. "Cause ya gots ta find what works for you! A little R & D on your part, mebe so.
You've done well enough so far. Good luck! If'n ya need any help, I generally fly the Evo-Horizons platform. However, have Ship...will travel!

Hi, Rubber chicken!
I forgot to ask you, if the hostile ships are rebels, what are their factions? Thanks!
@ Busch: taking on "the reds" in pearl is audacious if don't have the right equipment, but if you got the repair system C3, fusion laser, a particle cannon, a few missiles, and a shield system C5 then you should be able to fight with the hostile ships with no problems!
Cheers,
Cheri and Vincent

Hi, guys!
When I was fighting with the hostile ships in the pearl star system last night, I cannot really tell if the hostile ships are destroyed or not. What is the best weapons to use for blowing up hostile ships so I know for sure the hostile ships are destroyed? Thanks!

What about the Clan Richton territories shown on the Quadrant Map overlay? Are they also their own soveriegn force, or are they aligned with the Federation or Alliance? In short, does Clan Richton field it's own Naval force in the territories labeled as theirs? From post: 134041, Topic: tid=9139, author=Marvin wrote:About factions. There are two navies: one defending the Federation and one defending the Alliance. All gamers start out as pilots (mercenaries) for the Alliance ... which is why you often run into hostile naval ships. Usually, those factions known for being law-abiding citizens work in conjunction with the prevailing navy. Guilds, on the other hand, work according to whatever rules govern their organization ... meaning, whatever behavior adds to the profit margin. Rebels are unpredictable and can only be counted on to behave when they see no opportunity to do otherwise (such as in a Good star system). All of this is, of course, pure conjecture.

I think Cheri50000 means how do you know if you destroyed the reqiuired amount of hostiles of a contract? Remember it happens some times that a contract does not complete after destroying the required amount in multiplay because of other players in the same sector leaving or entering the sector or when you are at the point of a reputation change!.....

In that case... If you take a patrol contract for Navy / Energy / or Miners (for example), you have to destroy the required number of Rebel / Guild ships. Even if the Navy / Energy / Miners ALSO show as red during the contract they don't count. Destroy the reds that are OPPOSED to the contract offerer. Even if you (currently) have bad reputation with the faction you want to impress, try to avoid killing them if they show up during your mission.

Hi, guys!
I think I did something wrong here. When I flew from say from sol. to pearl, I destroyed the hostiles randomly like if they're energy, navy, guilds, and rebels and I think that make things a little more expensive. The only hostiles to destroy is guilds and rebels, right? Thanks!
Cheers,
Cheri and Vincent

Only destroying hostile Guild and Rebel ships should raise your reputation with the Navy and Energy factions and vice versa. You can also complete contacts in system to raise your reputation with particular factions.
I've never noticed price differences, of any significance, when changing reputations myself, but I could be wrong.
